My name is Katie Garringer Martins, and I play the oboe. I have a masters degree in Oboe Performance from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. I have performed with members of Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble, was previously a freelance oboist in NYC before I moved upstate to teach oboe at Hamilton College and freelance.
Played/toured/recorded with Regina Spektor, Lauryn Hill, Yo-Yo Ma, John Zorn, Moby and countless others. I've appeared on well over a hundred albums and sound tracks. I play drum set and a wide array of hand percussion (frame drums, pandeiro...).
Along with my friend and section partner, trumpeter Julio Diaz, we've played on and arranged horn sessions for hundreds of artists. We've played countless live shows together and sound like a real section (not just whoever was available that day). Our credits cover the best of pop, latin, country, americana, blues, and christian recording artists.
