Interview with Hayden Maringer

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My home studio setup consists of over 70+ guitars as well as tons of Mics, Keyboards, outboard gear (UTA Preamps, Neve 5060 Console, SSL G384 compressors, 1178 and 1176 compressors, numerous lexicon reverbs, eventide harmonizers, etc.), and lots of other instruments for any production. My studio is state of the art and has more gear than 99% of professional studios around today.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: If it is not right we will make it right! I am a perfectionist and would never send something I was not proud of!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being able to create something from nothing is a rich experience I think everyone must experience. I love being able to help clients reach a new level in their music they didn't think they were capable of
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: The most important thing for me is that I am passionate about the project as much as they are. I HATE situations where I work with someone who is not passionate about the production, song, mixing, etc. I have to love the project as much as the client for me to get involved.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I typically get hired for anything from Pop, Rock, Alternative, Gospel/RnB, even Jazz; the list goes on. My background as a multi-instrumentalist from Berklee College of Music helps me a lot with creating interesting productions for any style.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skillset is definitely producing a track up to something that is modern, competitive, and fits the lane/style the client is going for.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am inspired by many of the artists and producers I work with both live and in the studio. I have had the pleasure of working with amazing producers/mixers that inspire me: Greg Wattenberg (Train, Goo Goo Dolls), Collin Brittain (Papa Roach, All Time Low, Dreamers), Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, Linkin Park), and many more.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I most commonly own a production company "Maringer Music" where I create full live productions for artists such as Demi Lovato, Bebe Rexha, Bea Miller, Daya, and many more. As a Music Director this involves producing new material, hiring musicians, producing youtube covers, fully designing their shows, and many other musical aspects. I have also had the pleasure of producing for many of them and playing on their records. I spend my time off tour producing, songwriting, and mostly film scoring. I have had the pleasure of working along side Han Zimmers team for "Scorpion King: Rise to Power" as well as scoring for BBC, Ford, NBC, and many other major networks.
