Steve Kolakowsky is a freelance engineer & producer based out of northern New Jersey. He is an AES fellow, a BMI songwriter & Voting Member of the Grammys (Recording Academy, Producers & Engineers Wing).

I am an original founding member of Wilco, recording and touring the albums A.M., Being There, Summerteeth, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, and Mermaid Ave Vols. I & II. I love creating adventurous sounds and grooves in a wide variety of genres. For me, the most important thing is always to serve the song and the artist.

A background in BBC radio in London and working with multi-platinum artists means I have a wealth of experience and know what it takes to turn your rock and indie tracks into a professional sounding, radio-ready mix. I am a classically and jazz trained music composer, orchestrator, sound designer and mixer, mastering engineer, and virtuoso keyboardist. I have been involved with many projects, varying from film music, audio post-production - to songwriting and pop music production. Mastering is a passion of mine, which I have done for Wilco.
