Bon Ai (Bonani Jula) is a young producer from a small town Margate, South Africa. I grew up loving music from recording tape cassettes to vinyl's at a time where war was raging music was my sanctuary. No one taught me how to make music, because of my passion for music I had to make myself work though the odds were backed against me.
I'm a mix engineer, producer, artist, guitarist, and I co-run a leftfield electronic record label. I love working with both electronic and organic sounds alike, and have honed my production skills on a broad range of collaborative projects for more than 15 years. I'm experienced with developing artists, giving compositional and technical feedback.
With 9 years of experience as a music producer, I've had my tracks signed by respected labels such as NIGHTMODE, DIM MAK, and JADU DALA. My music has been played by well-known DJs including Skrillex, Four Tet, PEEKABOO, Steve Aoki, Salute, MPH and more.
