Strings have the power to elevate any song to a totally new level and I am here to help you achieve that. My violins are featured on hundreds of tracks, including almost any genre or musical style. The reviews speak for themselves ))

For more than two decades, I have arranged strings for hundreds of tracks across virtually every style and genre.

My life long classical training, combined with a career as a session musician, has helped me develop an extremely versatile approach to any composition or arrangement.

Together with my passion for sound engineering, and my experience as a producer and songwriter, this makes me one of the most well-rounded professionals in my field. Every part of my chain, from room acoustics, to instrument quality, recording gear and musical performance, guarantees that the end product will be of the highest standard.

I approach each project with great dedication, trying to create something unique and special. Sometimes offering alternative takes, suggestions, and giving mixing or arrangement advise when needed.

Nikos is an outstanding and highly professional string player. This is not our first time working together, and he continues to exceed expectations on every project.

He always provides a variety of options and takes, giving you plenty of flexibility during the production and mixing process. His recordings sound beautiful, rich, and musical, and the quality is consistently top-notch.

Nikos is such a talented musician and great professional! In our second collaboration he not only provided to me great violin and viola recordings but he also offered constructive and creative ideas bringing our song to the next level. Couldn’t recommend him more

Working with Nikos was a super easy process! He was able to track the violin parts for my Dance-Pop string arrangement within a couple of days of starting the project. Flawless performance with great articulations and dynamics bringing the much needed lush sound with a little bit of sparkle to my Disco style song.

Nikos is a violinist with great technique and excellent musical feeling. Despite I gave him a rather problematic music score, he perfectly captured the mood and emotion of the song and delivered exactly what I expected. Great professional communication as well. Fully recommend

Nikos provided alt takes on this one so I could have options to layer into the mix- really nice touch and just shows how he always goes above and beyond to deliver the best performance.

Additionally, his intonation is beyond great. It makes it so much faster to add the finished tracks to a song because there is no tuning or corrective measures that have to be taken. Super nice guy to deal with.

Great communicator who replies promptly, incredibly professional and also incredibly creative/talented.

Even went above and beyond with his own suggestions (but of course still gave us what we wanted, and then some more)!

Working with Nikos was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The music was technically demanding, with fast passages and dense writing, and he approached it with seriousness, discipline, and musical intelligence. The final performances are cohesive, expressive, and extremely well executed, including a challenging fast section delivered cleanly as a full take. Communication was thoughtful throughout the process, and he brought both artistry and professionalism to the collaboration.

Another outstanding session w/Nikos. He not only plays the tracks beautifully from a technical perspective, but he also puts intention into each note and is thoughtful about how the parts fit into the bigger picture. I think it really helps that he knows production in addition to the string playing so he's aware of how all the pieces fit together. Amazing communication and his dedication to providing the best results is just stellar.

Interview with Nikos Mavridis

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: That I will treat their music with the outmost love, care and respect.

  3. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  4. A: My grandfather and my father are Violinists, so i do it since I was a child. I have completed my classical studies in Germany. Regular studio experience since 2007 with a great number of bands. Meantime doing concerts as a Classical Violinist, Viola, Session Musician, and trying my luck as a producer, music composer and sound engineer.

  5. Q: How would you describe your style?

  6. A: I have no particular style. One of my strongest skills is imitation. People mostly love my sound. So this must be my style.

  7. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  8. A: I would love to work with Lana Del Rey. Her melodic style of music offers so many ideas about harmony and I love harmony.

  9. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  10. A: Whatever a customer needs. It could be a String Arrangement, it could be a Solo, or something totally sublime. I am very flexible about this. Long term clients seem to trust me with my experimental sides, relying on my experience as a Musician. I really like it when it happens. Strings seem to elevate a song to a totally new level.

  11. Q: What's your typical work process?

  12. A: Customer sends the track with an audio or midi file and describes his wishes verbally. I try to get the best picture I can about the sound and the style. If possible there is a reference track. I make the recordings and if needed we make a few changes. Usually no changes are needed if the communication is good enough from the start. This is for me the most essential part of the workflow.

  13. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  14. A: A nicely balanced acoustic treatment. Medium sized Room. Audient iD14 Soundcard with Burr Brown converters. Aston Origin/Line Audio CM4 Microphones. Logic Pro X. Yamaha HS7 Monitors. Beyerdynamic DT770 Headphones.

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: A wants to add some strings to his song. I arrange and record the strings specially for his song and genre.

  17. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  18. A: I am especially proud to have participated twice in the International Violin Masterclass of Leonidas Kavakos. He is one of the best Violinistst worldwide and this was a dream come true and a huge honor.

  19. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  20. A: Working on releasing my own music. A very difficult step for many of us who write and produce their own music. But i am getting closer.

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: Be as exact as you can about what you want. Feel free to talk a lot about it. Send reference tracks. Online collaboration can be tricky, so the more I know, the better I can understand what the customer wants.

  23. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  24. A: A 3/4 Classic Guitar and 4 sets of strings. Boom!

  25. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  26. A: If you want to add some analog warmth to your harmonies, play some sublime Hammond organ to it. No one will notice, but it will make a huge difference. Done it many times with a friend that owns a Studio in Germany. We call it a homeopathic dose of Hammond. (The Hammond must be real. No plugins). I am the lucky owner of a T-500.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: Whatever kind of music requires a violin or a string ensemble. Literally anything. From Pop to Folk, Metal or Electronic music. Strings nowadays can serve many purposes. This is a very fortunate fact.

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: I have perfect pitch, a relatively fast prima vista, lots of experience in studio and on stage and a very solid violin technique. Besides that I have a very broad personal musical taste for many music genres, for that reason I can adapt very good to the demands of a particular type of music and imitate lots of different styles of playing.

  31. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  32. A: Lately i am very inspired by modern producers such as Illangelo. But my influences are noumerous. Radiohead, Beatles, Russian Rock bands, Modern Trap, Old school Hip Hop, you name it. Good music is always good.

  33. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  34. A: We are lucky to have a choice. I choose both.

  35. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  36. A: A a musician I have travelled a lot, met lots of people, played lots of different music and look forward to do exactly the same in the future.

  37. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  38. A: I have not noticed a misconception till now. It is what it is.

  39. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  40. A: Depends on what the client needs. There are questions about sound, style, arrangement etc.

  41. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  42. A: There are no common questions yet.

  43. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  44. A: Petros Voudouris. A sound engineer, a friend, and the person that helped to make this profile.
