Nikos Mavridis on SoundBetter

Hi. If you are looking for a Violinist to add a Solo or a lush String section to your track, you have surely found one of the best. My name is Nikos and i am here to help you take your music to the next level. Check out my audio compilation to get a taste of my work and feel free to contact me for anything. I will be happy to hear from you.

After all the years on the market, i am confident enough to put myself among the best professionals out there.

My reviews and the feedback i get from my clients are a huge compliment to that statement.

Whether as a Violinist, Viola or an Arranger/Composer, Artists from all over the world are excited working with me and i do my best to deliver the most out of my experience as a Musician.

I had the luck to work in great studios with numerous artists, to be a member of a few great bands touring around Europe and the USA, and played numerous classical concerts in some of the world's best venues. But all that is just a part of my journey. My best skills and my greatest inspiration comes from hard work, my passion for many styles of music, my perfectionism in all technical aspects of sound and my multi-instrumentalism, which is a very important part of my violin technique and my personal songwriting process.

The price list is only for reference. I try to keep my prices affordable for a large group of clients, as long as my schedule allows it. So don't be shy if you just need a small Solo, or if you are on a budget. I will be happy to help.

So if you want to collaborate with one of the best and give your music a special vibe and character, just contact me and let's get to work.

Nikos was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was very receptive to my ideas and gave thoughtful suggestions. He dedicated himself to achieving my goal of recording experimental violin and viola textures. I'll be back to collaborate again soon.

NIKOS GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND! I AM IMPRESSED AND AMAZED! I wanted to heighten my track with freestyle strings and Nikos has exceeded my expectations as both a talented professional and creative. He provided multiple string arrangements and created a beautiful and wholesome orchestral sound! I am speechless and absolutely in love with the final result. I highly HIGHLY recommend working with Nikos! Thank you for LIFTING this track! Cheers to music, live sound and creativity!

It's the second time that I asked Nikos to play violin in viola in one song of mine and it's also the second time that I couldn't believe in my ears. I didn't even know what melody should the violins play and Nikos created a beautiful melody by himself giving my song exactly what it was missing, a dreamy dimension. Also, his recording knowledge makes it so easy for me to use the stems in the mix. Thank you once again Nikos. You are the best!

Nikos is mind blowing. I wasn't quite sure what my song needed and Nikos with his violin and viola gave another dimension to it. His sound is incredible and his recording technical knowledge made things so easy for me. Thank you very much!

I've forgotten how many times I've used Nikos now since I try to book him for any violin/viola parts I need recorded. I would rather wait for his schedule to open rather than use anyone else at this point. During this last job, he added some extra articulations for me to choose from- subtle differences but a very good look into how dedicated to his craft he is.
    He's an outstanding player.

Another amazing experience working with Nikos. Not only does he have amazing tone but he's thoughtful about all aspects of his recording. During our last song, he threw in extra muted tracks to help smooth out the trickier passages and to help with layering. I hadn't even mentioned it- he just delivered them as an option.
Nice guy and a stellar player.

Interview with Nikos Mavridis

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I am especially proud to have participated twice in the International Violin Masterclass of Leonidas Kavakos. He is one of the best Violinistst worldwide and this was a dream come true and a huge honor.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Working on releasing my own music. A very difficult step for many of us who write and produce their own music. But i am getting closer.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: That they will be very satisfied with my musical experience and my classical professionalism.

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: Be as exact as you can about what you want. Feel free to talk a lot about it. Send reference tracks. Online collaboration can be tricky, so the more I know, the better I can understand what the customer wants.

  9. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  10. A: A 3/4 Classic Guitar and 4 sets of strings. Boom!

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: My grandfather and my father are Violinists, so i do it since I was a child. I have completed my classical studies in Germany. Regular studio experience since 2007 with a great number of Bands and genres. Meantime doing concerts as a Classical Violinist, Viola, session Musician, and trying my luck as a producer, music composer and sound engineer.

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: I have no particular style. One of my strongest skills is imitation. I can play like a top notch Classical Violinist or a drunk Fiddler. It's fun to have many different personalities.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: I absolutely love Lana Del Rey. Wish i could one day produce one of her albums. Why? Because she seems to need a Producer and i seem to need an Artist to produce. I think it would be a great Album.

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: If you want to add some analog warmth to your harmonies, play some sublime Hammond organ to it. No one will notice, but it will make a huge difference. Done it many times with a friend that owns a Studio in Germany. We call it a homeopathic dose of Hammond. (The Hammond must be real. No plugins). I am the lucky owner of a T-500.

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: Whatever kind of music requires a violin or a string ensemble. Literally anything. From Pop to Folk, Metal or Electronic music. Strings nowadays can serve many purposes. This is a very fortunate fact.

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: I have perfect pitch, a relatively fast prima vista, lots of experience in studio and on stage and a very solid violin technique. Besides that I have a very broad personal musical taste for many music genres, for that reason I can adapt very good to the demands of a particular type of music and imitate lots of different styles of playing.

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: Whatever a customer needs. It could be a String Arrangement, it could be a Solo, or something totally sublime. I am very flexible about this. Long term clients seem to trust me with my experimental sides, relying on my experience as a Musician. I really like it when it happens.

  25. Q: What's your typical work process?

  26. A: Customer sends the track with an audio or midi file and describes his wishes verbally. I try to get the best picture I can about the sound and the style. If possible there is a reference track. I make the recordings and if needed we make a few changes. Usually not many changes are needed if the communication is good enough from the start. This is for me the most essential part of the workflow.

  27. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  28. A: A nicely balanced acoustic treatment. Medium sized Room. Audient iD14 Soundcard with Burr Brown converters. Aston Origin Microphone. Logic Pro X. Yamaha HS7 Monitors. Sennheiser DT770 Headphones.

  29. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  30. A: Lately i am very inspired by modern producers such as Illangelo. But my influences are noumerous. Radiohead, Beatles, Russian Rock bands, Modern Trap, Old school Hip Hop, you name it. Good music is always good.

  31. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  32. A: A client has something particular in mind, or wants me to add my own ideas to the track. Often it is both. We discuss the details and proceed to the recordings.

  33. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  34. A: We are lucky to have a choice. I choose both.

  35. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  36. A: A a musician I have travelled a lot, met lots of people, played lots of different music and look forward to do exactly the same in the future.

  37. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  38. A: I have not noticed a misconception till now. It is what it is.

  39. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  40. A: Depends on what the client needs. There are questions about sound, style, arrangement etc.

  41. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  42. A: There are no common questions yet.

  43. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  44. A: Petros Voudouris. A sound engineer, a friend, and the person that helped to make this profile.
