Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: Vocally I stand out in the crowd with unique tone and subtlety.

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: This past year I wrote and sang topline for an experimental rock album, 9 tracks, for a client who approached me through SoundBetter. The artist wanted to be in-studio, and flew from Austin to LA. I recorded the entire album in only two days.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: Respect earns respect. Professionalism earns professionalism. If you come to me prepared and knowledgeable, we’ll foster a really rewarding working relationship!

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: I absolutely adore being able to enhance my clients’ work through lyrics/vocals!

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: Unfortunately, I’m not a engineer. I don’t mix my vocals or include any effects/eq because should you (the producer/artist) want to adjust, for example, the verb levels on your end, you won’t be able to! In my opinion, the best way to work with a vocalist remotely is to do dry stems. That way everyone wins.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: I work with people from all different experience levels, but please please pleeeeease be prepared. Especially if you have topline already written or your project is a cover/remix, it’s essential that I have an accurate vocal reference to do my job properly. And please, for the love of god, send lyric sheets in PDF format, not word 😆

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: 88 key keyboard, UA Apollo Twin, Neumann 103, isolation shield, monitor

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I’ve been making music one way or another for most of my 30 years on this planet, but I really started gaining professional clientele about 5 years ago.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: I’ve worked on pretty much every genre! Lately I’ve been doing a lot of house and EDM, but my personal artist project is in the Dark Pop realm.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: Vocally I’m extremely diverse in range and sonically different than any other vocalist out there on the airwaves currently. I think this gives me a lot of crossover ability. I’ve been involved with every genre from country to EDM. So, if you’re looking for a mimic, someone to sound exactly like a current mainstream artist, I’m probably not your guy. If you’re looking for someone with a completely unique sound, that’s me! With writing, I have a really in depth and intimate understanding of the importance of song structure, while still being able to break out of the mold. Whether you’re looking for a song that tells a detailed story, or one that has an infectious hook (or both!), I’m experienced in tailoring the vocal line to the needs of the song.

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: I just finished up 3 tracks for my artist project, PLEXXAGLASS, that I’m super stoked to release sometime in 2020! Feel free to ask for a sneak peek 😎 I also just finished a couple of downtempo tracks with a recurring client that I’m super proud of, as well as a big cinematic cover for a new client!

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I have access to studios in LA, but because of the nature of the majority of the work I take on, I’m almost 9/10 times recording in my sound treated home studio. Equipped with industry standards— LogicXPro, UA Apollo Twin, Neumann 103, AKG 414. Able to sample both mics upon request.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: I’m usually taking on projects that only require vocal recording, with topline already written, or ones that need both the topline written and record vocals.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: If I’m writing for your project, I will provide a treatment/demo for approval. You’ll then have the opportunity to ask me to either tweak what I’ve come up with, or scrap it and come up with something else. Up to (3) revisions are included in my rates. If I’m doing vocals for your project, assuming you provide me with (at least) a nearly finished instrumental, I’ll record (5) takes for each essential vocal section for you to choose from: leads, harmonies, ad libs. If comping, you’ll need to send it/them to me to get the most accurate stacks possible. (3) punch revisions included.

A: Bon Iver, Florence + the Machine, Bishop Briggs, Perfume Genius, Dermot Kennedy
