Matt Palmer is an award-winning R&B/Pop singer, songwriter, and vocal arranger. He has collaborated with some of music's most exciting songwriters and producers, including Oak Felder, Fraser T. Smith, and the Jackie Boyz. As an artist, Matt has been featured on Billboard, The Huffington Post, and E! Online.
I am a graduate of NYU's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music and specialize in R&B, Pop, and Dance vocals, vocal tuning and songwriting. Vocally, I have been compared to Craig David, Usher, and MNEK, and songwriting-wise - I try to find the strongest melody that enhances music I'm working with, and am always fond of an emotional lyric.
If you have a pop, R&B or dance track in need of a top-line, I am happy to record the leads, backgrounds, and harmonies, comp them, tune them and send them back to you for to put in your mix. If you already have a lyric or melody idea, I'm happy to help you develop it -- the goal at the end of the day is for you to have the best representation of your song as possible.

Interview with Matt Palmer
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Matty Harris is a great mixer and I always love working with him.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I signed my first publishing deal in 2009 and have been making and putting out my own music since then. I have released 4 albums of my own that have topped the R&B charts in Japan, and I'd like to move into more songwriting and collaboration.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Mariah Carey -- I would never have written a song if it weren't for her.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I love working on pop, R&B and dance music most.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring soaring melodies, emotional lyrics, and a powerful or intimate vocal (depending on the track).
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually focus on writing the melody first then work on the concept & lyrics. I then record the lead and background vocals, send the file back to the producer for feedback, and tune the vocals once I know they're happy with it.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I do all of my vocals and tuning in ProTools, and I record vocals with an MXL V67G.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My biggest inspirations is Mariah Carey but I also love MNEK, Craig David, Sam Smith, Lauv & Ariana Grande.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Lately, I have written top-lines, recorded and tuned vocals for producers who needed it but I am open to tuning other vocals, or just assisting with the top-line songwriting.
