I worked with artists like HitBoy, Mozzy, TYuS and others. Currently working with APG/Atlantic on tracks for Lil Skies. Looking for that new sound in R&B, Pop and Hip Hop? I'm your guy. My sweet spot are edgy R&B as well as pop/hip hop bangers - but I can produce anything! I'm a pro so expect my tracks to be on time and sounding 100% perfect.
I have been producing using Logic for about 6 years, and professionally for the past 3. I am a classically trained pianist and composer and can also play guitar. I work out of my own fully kitted studio in Brooklyn and can work comfortably with tight deadlines.
I normally turn around tracks in 3 days and offer one review included with the price to make any changes to the track. I am available to do further changes/reviews for an extra payment.
I am able to procure live musicians at the client's request for an incremental fee (costs vary x musician).
Unless explicitly agreed - artists may not publicly credit me for production on any projects initiated on Soundbetter.

Interview with GËKKØ
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: If they were still alive: Michael Jackson, Prince, and Freddie Mercury
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip Hop, RnB and Pop
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I recently finished an EP with Mozzy, a rapper featured on the "Black Panther" soundtrack, and an R&B artist I invested in early in my career, called Omar Kadir. I am proud of it because Mozzy is one of the best story tellers in the game and Omar is one of my "day 1s". This project is the coronation of years of hustle and hard work we did together.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: When you hire me you can expect the "rolls royce" treatment - everything will be custom made to your specifications, no short cuts, no excuses. I keep you posted at all steps of the process and make sure you are always 100% satisfied with the product.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I physically need to make music as a creative release - it's very therapeutic, so the fact that I'm getting paid to do it is just amazing. I also like the independence of being my own boss and working at my own pace.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Today a producer is basically a composer who specializes in the music rather than the lyrics. We normally do not mix and master records - that's what a mixing engineer does. And we normally do not write lyrics, that's what top liners and writers are for.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Take the time to clearly communicate your vision and expect nothing less than excellence.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My path to music was an unusual one. After graduating from college I had a a career in business and finance, and it took me a whole 8 years to understand that 'suit & tie' just wasn't what I wanted to do with my life. While I always messed around with songwriting and music production since an early age, I became a pro about 4 years ago and haven't looked back since.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I like productions that are simple but "expensive" sounding. I take time to make sure the sounds I use are full, rich and expressive but I also make sure I don't over produce records and leave room for the vocals to stand out, whether it's pop, rap or rnb.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working a lot with WMG, specifically Atlantic Records and APG.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Mickey Shiloh - amazing songwriter, glowing personality and solid work ethic.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. Because it's not the 90s.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Keep it simple.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: My own aesthetic, as well as my ability to be versatile and reflect the artist's vision.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It starts with speaking with the artist and understanding the sound they are looking for. It ends with me translating that vision into a musical reality and providing you with a banger! Everything in between is a professional secret ;)
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have my own studio in Brooklyn. I use Logic as my main production software. Beyond just producing, I am also a proficient piano and guitar player.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My favourite producer of all time is Kanye West. I think he was the most transformational artist in urban music in his generation. I also love the works of producers like Pharrell and Scott Storch whose sound transcended hip hop and translated beautifully into pop music. My favourite songwriter of all time is Max Martin (if you don't know who he is, you should).
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am a hip hop, RnB and pop producer, which means I "make beats" and compose all the music, except for the lyrics. Most clients reach out with a rough idea of the kind of song they want, often providing reference tracks from existing artists that show the kind of vibe they are looking for. Some clients come with existing melodies or lyrics they wrote either acappella or to another beat. I help these clients by "re-producing" the track, i.e. building a brand new beat around their lyrics.
