Emmy and CAS Award Winning Mixer, worked on Grammy Nominated albums, highly versatile skillset mixing Dolby Atmos, 5.1, 7.1, Stereo, well versed in multiple genres with 20 years experience and happy to offer live remote mixing for non-NYC based artists.
I'm a well-established mixer and recording engineer located in NYC. I spent my early years interning at Avatar Studios and working at Soundtrack New York, where I had the privilege of working with Beyoncé, Busta Rhymes, Swizz Beats, Lenny Kravitz, Cyndi Lauper, and on Chandrika Tandon's Grammy nominated album "Soul Call." I've also accumulated a small arsenal of analog gear and I maintain a sizeable collection of plug-ins. I’m also fortunate to have worked with artists in many different genres including EDM, Folk/Acoustic, Pop, Reggae, World, Electronic, Funk, Indie, Rock, Electronic, Hip Hop, Jazz, and Singer/Songwriter, and am well versed mixing in all formats including Atmos and 5.1. See demo on the right.
In my two decades of working as a sound engineer, I’ve not only worked in music, but also in post production sound for film as a re-recording mixer, sound designer, and supervising sound editor. I won an Emmy Award and CAS Award for mixing on the Oscar award winning documentary Free Solo (Nat Geo). Some of my other film credits include Midsommar (A24), Hellraiser (Hulu), The Night House (Searchlight), The First Omen (Disney), Brittany Runs a Marathon (Amazon), Halston (Netflix), and How to Blow Up a Pipeline (Neon).
I’m honored to be a member of the Cinema Audio Society, a voting member of the Emmys, Grammys, and member of the Motion Picture Editor’s Guild.

Now my music sounds like music.
Thank you Ric! I’ve been mixing with Ric for almost 15 years. He’s taken my music to the next level each and every time and continues to grow and evolve both technically and creatively. He’s almost finished mixing my latest track and I couldn’t be more pleased. He is truly a one-of-a-kind talent in this field and his credits reflect that!
Ric is simply the best. Deeply knowledgeable, with excellent taste and an incredible ear, I feel lucky every time we get to work together. I've come to him with a variety of projects spanning jazz, rock, and classical, and he's always knocked it out of the park with the utmost professionalism. He's willing to go the extra mile to make his mixes truly special. A great collaborator who takes feedback seriously and is committed to excellence. Don't miss your chance to work with Ric!
I have worked with the top mixing engineers in Nashville and NYC, and no one is better than Ric or more professional in every way. He is honest, nice, reliable and has great character on top of his mixing talents, very easy to work with and a pleasure to know. I have known him and kept in touch, even after moving back to Nashville and no longer working with him in NY, because he is just that great of a person! I am happy to call him a friend, totally top notch all around. If you work with him, you will be in good hands.
When it comes to mix engineering, sound design, or creative collaboration, I consider Ric to be the best in the business. His level of professionalism is unsurpassed, and he brings unmatched enthusiasm to every project we work on together. Whether it’s live tracking, mixing a film score, producing an album, or working together on a remix, I can always count on Ric to make the results beyond a cut above. I endorse him wholeheartedly.
Ric was my writing/production partner and myself’s first choice. He’s a patient pro who perseveres until everyone is happy. Our last album was musically diverse and Ric was right there with each genre. He had great suggestions, implemented what we wanted quickly and is up to date on all the new gear. As a bonus he’s become a good friend. Highly recommend!!!
Ric is a masterful sound engineer, lots of fun to work with, and just an all around good guy. Even though he has literally hundreds of IMDB credits, he remains a humble yet confident person. Great ears and taste. The music reigns supreme at all times. We have done several projects together and he is my go to guy.
Ric Schnupp has my unconditional recommendation, bar none. He mixed the hell out of a project I produced, Ghosha & Tao "Original Face", and has been my union kin (IA Local 700) for over a decade and never disappoints! Award winning, worldly, and above all, a solid, dependable professional talent.
