Endorse Geoff OttGeoff Ott is everything he appears to be and more. I have worked with him on a number of projects in "real life" over the last couple of years, and I could not ask for a better producer, mixer, and all around genuine person worth knowing, much less working with! Whatever you're looking for, Geoff will make sure your music shines.
Interview with Geoff Ott
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started as an intern under Rick Parashar in the early 90's we made so many records together and sold a lot also. Since then I have worked all over the country. Since 2005 I have been the owner of London Bridge Studio in Seattle www.londonbridgestudio.com
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring depth, energy, and clarity to every song I work on. My goal is to enhance the emotion and impact of the music while ensuring it sounds full, dynamic, and engaging across all playback systems. With years of experience in the industry, I understand how to craft a mix that highlights the best elements of a performance, giving each instrument its own space while maintaining a cohesive, powerful sound. Whether it’s adding warmth to a vocal, tightening up a rhythm section, or giving guitars the edge they need, I make sure every track feels alive and resonates with listeners.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Communication is key. Before starting any project, I take the time to fully understand the artist's vision. After all, it’s their music, and my role is to help bring what they hear in their head to life. Once we’ve established a clear direction, I begin working on the mix, keeping an open line of communication to ensure we’re aligned every step of the way. Feedback is encouraged, and I make necessary adjustments to refine the sound until the artist is completely satisfied. My goal is to ensure that every track translates beautifully across all listening environments while staying true to the artist’s intent.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: In 2025, I’ve built a highly mobile workflow, allowing me to work efficiently from multiple locations. I have a dedicated studio setup in my home and access to two different rooms at London Bridge Studio. My choice of space depends on the monitor environment I’m looking for and whether clients will be present. This flexibility ensures I can achieve the best sound possible while accommodating different production needs.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I do for my clients is mixing and mastering their tracks to achieve a polished, professional sound. Artists and producers send me their raw recordings, and I carefully balance levels, enhance clarity, and bring out the best in each performance. My approach is to maintain the artist’s vision while adding depth, punch, and warmth to the final mix. Whether it's rock, alternative, grunge, or any other genre, I tailor my work to fit the unique style and energy of each song. I also provide guidance on how to prepare files for mixing and offer feedback to ensure the best possible outcome. My goal is to make every track sound radio-ready and emotionally impactful for listeners.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Amber Sweeney is one of the best singer songwriters around, the record we did will be out in January of 2017 but you can hire her now to sing on your record!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I have worked extensively on both and honestly I am happier with digital because I have learned how to make it sound the way I want it to, with analog there is always an unknown factor on how it will effect the sound and that can get kinda stressful.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Listen to my work and talk to me, the best relationship comes from trust, when we get on the same page not only will the work be easy and creative but we will be unstoppable.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: This is a stupid question. Obviously I would want a hammock, a water purifier and something to lite a fire with. When it comes down to it the most important thing is a great song and a great musician, the tools are secondary.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Big, I love low end, high end and really wide clear mixes, God invented stereo for a reason, I would hate to let him or her down:-)
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Easy, Jimmy Hendrix because he is Jimmy! and also he really worked hard to make records that were really interesting, the live shows were something totally different.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Work really hard to make your music sound as close to what you want as possible. If you are hearing effects then print them if you are out of tune then fix it, not sure about a part then re write it. The better your tracks sound when they get to me then the more time I can spend on the actual mix rather than editing for 90% of the time and mixing for 10%.
