Interview with Joseph Brice

  1. Q: What's your typical work process?

  2. A: I tend to spend the first part of any session getting to know the artist/s. This helps me to understand what the music is about and how the recordings should sound. Its also important to me that the artist knows I care about their music. After the vibe has been established its onto keeping out of the artists way and to capture the best possible recording.

  3. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  4. A: My set up is rather minimal. I tend to mainly use the gear on other at whichever studio I am at. However, I have a collection of gear including UAD I/O and Neumann microphones to use on location recording.

  5. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  6. A: My main work comes in the form of freelance recording for clients across Europe. I come into studios with the artist, whether that is their own studio or one that they have hired, and help to record and capture the sound and essence of their music.
