Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Experience: 6-7 years Originally from Munich, Manuel Garay is a progressive music producer that has had a steady presence in the German electronic music scene since the age of 18, he toured internationally with his previous act ‚ 'Cocolores' in which he was signed to berlin based label Exploited Records. In his most recent work a new freedom is evident in his sound as he works to incorporate influences from an international sphere.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am especially proud of my latest single w/ Mariami. I was the overall executive producer, did the arrangement and the mixing. I also used the release for my producer/DJ project called 'Manuel Garay'. So far the song has been very well received on spotify.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on a new single for beginning of 2020.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I would recommend Mariami as a singer/ lyricist and vocalist.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: digital - because that's what I know best at the moment.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I want to deliver the best service I possibly can.

A: How much are you charging for a mixdown? It all depends on how it already sounds and how many stems you're using.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That it's easy to produce a great song. :)
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: In what direction should the song go? What overall feel are you going for? Are there any reference songs?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be decisive in what you want from the provider. Make your research and listen to the material of your selected provider before briefing him.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Exactly the ones I already use :)
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Indie Pop, Trap, Pop and RnB/ Soul
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like to work with Sampha. I think he's one of the most progressive singers for alternative RnB and he constantly brings something fresh to the table.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I think you should have breaks and patience in the process of writing and mixing.

A: RnB & Soul, Pop and Hip-Hop

A: Executive music production
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring the song structure, the detailed production, overall mixing, vocal arrangement, editing and mixing.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I first listen to what is already there. I try to then enhance the content until I think there's enough content to make a song with transitions etc. After the writing process, I mix the song to perfection.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I'm mainly working in-box with cubase 10.5. complete version, razer blade 15 2019 (Windows), Focusrite Scarlett 3rd Gen Interface & aiaiai tma-2 headphones

A: Jaycen Joshua, Mike Will Made It, Murda Beatz, James Blake, Sampha, Frank Ocean, Calvin Harris
