Interview with Steven Harris
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Country, and Rock mainly but of course a songwriter can fit into so many other music genres other than the ones I have mentioned.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: No professional career path. Personally though I have written over 800 songs for myself to listen and sing to for my own entertainment. I've been writing songs since I was 11 which adds to 30+ years of writing songs. Im just now starting to open up publicly regarding my songwriting capability in order for others to sing to what I sing to. I always felt a personal connection with my songs so this is why for a long time I have kept my songwriting to myself. I think at this point in my life I am now open and comfortable enough to let others hear what I've been listening to in my mind. I've kept my songwrtiting so secret not even my parents, friends, or colleagues know I write songs. It's only been until recently I've showcased my songwriting to my siblings. In conclusion all I hope for is people to like what I've been listening to as this is a new journey for me.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Of course Michael Jackson may he rest in peace. Musician wise presently I would love to work with Stevie Wonder. His album Songs In the Key of Life listening to as a 12 year old was mezmerizing. The songs from that album opened me up to the beauty and purity of what a song can truly become and the chills you get when you hear a beautiful song. This album sent me on a roller coaster of emotions that went into a whole other dimension. Nothing can describe what this album and The Thriller album did to me emotionally at such a young age. I didnt know what I was getting myslef into when I decided to listen to these two albums. For this is the reason why I strive to write songs to give you the same emotional feeling that so many other timeless songs have given me in my life. To me that emotional feeling you get from a beautiful song is priceless and there is no other feeling like it. Singer wise of course Whitney Houston may she rest in peace. Presently I would definitely love to work with Adele because not only does she have a beautiful voice but she seems to be a beautiful person. From the moment I started writing songs at age 11 I always felt my purpose was to write beautiful songs for gifted singers not for myself. She would definitely be the one I would love to work with and write a beautiful song for.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My own songs. With hundreds of songs floating in my mind I have to at least hear a few of them on track right lol. With the use of gifted singers and music production I can actually hear the full force of what the song sounds like.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Kimera Morrell is not only an amazing, super talented, gifted singer but she is very professional and I highly recommend her to anybody. She will make your song shine brighter than the Luxor Sky Beam. Kimera's IQ on hearing a song on how you hear it is beyond phenomenal. There is no other singer I have worked with that is like Kimera. She is truly a rare jewel that is hard to duplicate. So please check her profile out and pay her a visit if you want amazing vocals on your track. Joshua Carey and Nate Kohrs are both gifted and amazing producers. Only #1 hit sounding songs with their production talent has come out from working with them. So I highly recommend paying these two phenomenal producers a visit as well.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: That it's not a job.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Songwritting. My passion is to deliver a beautiful song to gifted singers. I feel it would be a dishonor to not only the gifted singer but to me as well to deliver anything less. How can you have someone with a beautiful voice and give them a subpar song. I will never give a gifted singer a song unless I think its as beautiful as their talent. When a beautiful voice and beautiful song collide together I know this means only something beautiful can come from this.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I try to bring to a song the capability to touch you emotionally. The same as any other timeless song has done to you and me. A song that can touch you emotionally is by far timeless.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, DeBarge, and BabyFace.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I do songwriting that includes melody and lyrics. With an amazing melody and thoughtful lyrics I believe something beautiful can happen with the right voice and producer behind it.
