Hey everybody! My name is Jaime Arin. I am a singer/songwriter based out of New York specializing in top line vocals, lyric and melody, background vocals, and vocal/harmony arrangements. I am also an experienced vocal coach. When it comes to crafting a song or providing killer vocals, I can deliver whatever it is that you need.
I have over a decade of experience in top-line songwriting, laying down and arranging lead and background vocals, vocal production, recording demo vocals and vocal comping.
After studying Music at the University of Miami, I was in a Pop/R&B girl group where I created and arranged all our vocals and harmonies. Currently a solo artist, I am writing and demoing songs for well-known artists, singing background vocals, and featuring on some pretty great upcoming records.

Interview with Jaime Arin
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am so proud of the body of work I am creating right now with Keith Ross. He's a 3-time Grammy nominated, multi-platinum producer, songwriter and mix engineer. Together we have been creating originals for well-known and major label artists. I love collaborating and creating with such an inspiring, talented, and creative person.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am currently writing and demoing songs for well-known artists, singing background vocals, and featuring on some pretty great upcoming records.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Keith Ross and WiggyvstheWorld
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I use both. Digital makes for a quicker process and analog is richer in harmonics and character.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is to deliver quality and make my clients happy!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love creating and collaborating with other people. I also love being able to contribute and elevate someone else's project!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Nothing crazy, just how quickly I can turn around a product (which is pretty quick, 1-5 business days, depending on the job).
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception about me is from new clients. They don't exactly know what I am capable of until I deliver the results.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How can I help you bring your vision to life?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't be afraid to spend a little bit more to get it right the first time. Ultimately, it's a lot more expensive in the long run to have to get things done twice.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I would take the Genelec 8361 Monitors to hear my music all over the island, a Telefunken ELA M 251, Neve 1073, Tube-Tech CL-1B and Burl B2 Bomber.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing music for over a decade. I studied music at the University of Miami and then I was in a Pop/R&B girl group where I created and arranged all our vocals and harmonies. Now I am a solo artist writing and demoing songs for well-known artists, singing background vocals, and featuring on some pretty great upcoming records!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My vocal style is intricate, powerful, and dynamic.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Bruno Mars. His talents are so multifaceted and to be able to create from scratch with him would be unbelievable.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: My biggest tip as an artist would be to get out of your own way in the creative process. Let yourself go and throw out all the ideas when creating. If something doesn't stick, that's what Pro Tools is there for.... You have as many takes as you need. You never know which idea is gonna hit the best until you hear it!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I typically work on top 40 Pop and R&B music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skillset would definitely be my technical vocal abilities. However, being pretty well-rounded, creating killer top line melodies and vocal arrangements are also a part of my wheelhouse that I am very proud of.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring attention grabbing, catchy, and unique melodies. I also come up with rich harmonies and catchy background vocals to elevate the song. Regardless of genre, I am able to take a song to the finish line.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Typically when I am working with a beat, I start by laying down melodies. After a few passes, I comp them together and rearrange them into their catchiest form. Then, I write lyrics to the comped melodies and lay down the vocals. Once the leads are laid down, I go back in and record backgrounds and harmonies.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup includes: Genelec 8330 SAM Monitors, Slate ML-1 Microphone, Neve Preamp, Golden Age 2254 Compressor, Universal Audio Apollo Twin X, and Pro Tools.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I have been very lucky to grow up on the greats, past and present so I am inspired by an eclectic, wide range of artists. Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Paul McCartney, Barbara Streisand, Etta James, Stevie Wonder... I love mixing my inspiration from legacy artists with current ones. I am so inspired by Ariana Grande's vocal/harmony arrangements. Lyric and production wise, I love Jon Bellion's work.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: To my clients, I am predominantly known for laying down vocal melodies, creating vocal/harmony arrangements, and top line songwriting.
