I specialize in pop, electro, and EDM. If I were to describe myself as an artist, the first 3 artists that come to mind are Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, and Ed Sheeran. My expertise is in songwriting and lyrics. I also provide piano, topline writing, and vocals for pre-made tracks. I am very detail-oriented, so I deliver my best possible vocals.
I started singing and playing piano at 12 years old, and have been singing for 10 years with professional coaching and various gigs. Once I got my hands on my first music software, I instantly fell in love with the songwriting process.
The creative process of writing has always come naturally to me, and I've fine-tuned my ear for melodies over the past 10 years. I like to craft each song as detailed as I feel is necessary to nail an ear-catching tune. I am a tenor (G4 belt) and have particular experience with soft pop music such as that from Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, John Mayer, and Justin Bieber. I also love laying down vocals for EDM and Electropop productions, as I feel that the effort/emotion that I put in for each song accentuates the energy needed for a quality EDM track.
What I provide:

*Male Vocals

Interview with Michael Oakland
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital for sure. I like how these days digital is more prominent because of how much you can do with it. Digital is much more economical than analog and presents a similar result in audio quality.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I typically start songwriting with piano improvisation, finding chords and chord progressions that flow well and that pair well with the type of music I am working with. Once I find this, I usually hum out the melodies (sometimes verse/intro) that I dig for that new chord progression. I emphasize certain vowels and consonants that I want to keep in a song and put the pieces of the puzzle together to formulate the lyrics that match up with that lyric flow, similar to many rappers. After, I pull out MIDI straight from my digital piano and import it into my DAW (Logic Pro X). From there, it's just all about fine-tuning and crafting any last-minute implementations to add to those mandatory elements that I want to keep in the song.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: An ear for melodies. Ever since I started working with writing melodies, I found that creating melodies was fun and interesting, to say the very least.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My digital piano, a portable battery outlet to plug my piano in (hopefully this counts as gear), my laptop, PreSonus audio interface, and perception 220 condenser microphone.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To put all of my effort into each individual song. It's sad when the potential for any song or element of that song goes easily unnoticed and unfulfilled. My promise is that I will do my very best for every project, big or small.
