Hi! I'm Leo, a full-time pianist and music producer based in Barcelona. With 25 years of experience, I’ve had the pleasure of recording and producing for renowned artists and global brands, as well as collaborating with hundreds of musicians around the world. I specialize in Neo Soul, Pop, Jazz, Afro House, Lofi...
You can hire me for: backing piano for your vocals, piano covers of your favorite songs, advanced harmonization for your jazz compositions, sick Rhodes chords for your R&B or Neo Soul track, adding synths, bass, or pads to your electronic productions (Techno, House, Trap…), juicy licks and riffs to enhance your blues or rock songs, or full track arrangement and production — including high-quality analog mixing and mastering.
My musical education includes jazz, classical, modern and electronic music, along with training in production, mixing and mastering. I’ve completed over 2,000 remote sessions, and over time I’ve become one of the most in-demand musicians across major platforms.
Feel free to drop me a message to check availability and pricing. I’ll ask you to send your material (demos, rough mixes, stems, etc.) along with a short brief — references always help! I don’t really limit revisions: if the brief is clear, you’ll probably nail it on the first go.
I speak English, Spanish, and Italian.

Beautiful work, once again, from Leo on a public domain Christmas song I recorded. His piano/keyboard tracks were the perfect touch to complement my vocals, so nicely! His talents are appreciated!

Structured and professional approach. Not my first project with Leo and definitely not the last. Leo knows his craft and while he may be busy getting to your project, once he does, the results are phenomenal!

Leo was great to work with! He was very flexible, open to feedback, easy to reach, reasonably priced, and timely with delivery of the recording. The recording I requested had professional studio quality to it and I was so pleased with the finished product. I plan on continuing to work with him and highly recommend him!

Leo took my demo (piano and vocals) and elevated the piano beyond what I could imagine on my own. His work is sensitive to my vision, while offering his different perspective and expertise. Wouldn't hesitate to work with Leo again.

Leo is such a pleasure to work with. This time he helped perform surgery on a track that I didn't have access to stems, but needed some development tweaks. Leo was able to work with these restrictions to help me improve the track. He has such a great ear for what needs to be done and is so easy to work with when revisions are needed. Simply put, I love working with Leo!

Leo has an exquisite ear for composition. We scratched the original chord progression from my song and are using his instead. He added some extra keys as well that are useful to play around with. Definitely coming back to Leo!

Another fantastic piano arrangement experience with Leo!
Always great to work with! Highly recommend. - check_circleVerified
Working with Leo has been an absolute joy. He deeply understood the emotion and meaning behind my song and translated that into a piano arrangement that is both stunning and sensitive. His attention to detail and musicality brought a beautiful intimacy and warmth that exceeded my expectations. Communication was clear and friendly throughout, and he was patient with my questions and thoughtful about my vision. Highly recommended!

I am so happy to have found Leo. He is amazing and such a pro. I needed a piano recording from the 90s mimicked and Leo nailed it - all the dynamics, the expressions, the subtle stretching out of notes, etc. And he helped me with a missing bass part, too. The turnaround was super fast as I was in a bit of a rush and Leo was very accommodating. I can't say enough good things about Leo. Thank you!

Interview with Leo Music Design
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: A Neo Soul / Afrofuturism band called Nu Epoque, I really liked the creativity of that trio, the way the ideas flowed and the way we used to play live, with a lot of improvisation and risk. I was the producer, keyboardist and mix engineer.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: A personal, experimental project for acoustic piano, electronic effects applied on it and a visual show.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Is there any artist would you'd like your music to sound like? Would you prefer your music to be completely original and unheard instead?
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Elaquent, Stimming, Kaytranada because they're my favourite producers and I would learn a lot. Also I would like to produce music for artists like Solange, Bjork... because you have to push the boundaries and be creative, bold, groundbreaking...
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Here in Soundbetter I'm often hired for Pop, House, Neo Soul and Jazz. My personal projects are currently more on the experimental side of things.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I think it's the piano playing combined with my producer vision, my knowledge about harmony and experience in different genres (from jazz, to electronic music).
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: That is a creative one.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Try to look for references for the piano/production style that you would like to incorporate in your music. Be as specific as possible in your requests.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I carefully listen to the material that the client sends me, along with their references and instructions. Then, I create a chords chart and commence the production/recording process. I typically deliver the complete work directly to ensure the client has a comprehensive understanding. Occasionally, one or multiple revisions are needed to achieve the optimal result. However, in most cases, revisions are unnecessary. When required, I am available to accommodate all the revisions they need, as long as the communication remains coherent, and there are no changes in the client's direction or the material provided. Once the work is completed, we exchange public reviews as part of our collaboration.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I do most of the piano recordings using a Clavia Nord Stage 3 keyboard controlling VST pianos from Spectrasonic, Spitfire, Native Instruments etc.. The studio is equipped with top quality gears (Neumann KH420 speakers, Metric Halo sound interface, Manley Vari Mu, API2500 compressors and more...) The studio is of course acoustically treated.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Eclectic
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog for texture, character and color, digital for editing, organizing and controlling.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started studying piano at 6. Became a pro jazz musician at 18. Got into electronics and production at 24. Since then I've been making a living on music. I'm 40 now.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Whatever the client ask for filtered through my vision and style. I try to make things alive and organic, authentic.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Robert Glasper, Kiefer, Stimming, &Me, Kaytranada, Erykah Badu, Keith Jarrett...
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Piano arrangements
