Kiki Halliday on SoundBetter

Multi-genre artist/songwriter with extensive placements. I’ve written and performed songs for TV shows like The Kardashians, Love Island and Selling Sunset. (Netflix, CBS, NBC, Hallmark). Featured on Spotify's Global/US Viral Top 50 playlists. I’ll write, record, and arrange my vocals to match your track and it stand out from all the rest!

Hi I'm Kiki! It's an honor to help bring your song to life. I grew up in Los Angeles and currently live in Nashville, TN. During my time in LA, I worked in music studios all across the city and sat in on amazing sessions (John Legend, Janelle Monáe, Ester Dean, Rayland Baxter, Wyclef Jean). I learned how to craft custom songs for clients in the TV/Film world & have had steady success with placements across many networks. After relocating to Nashville in 2017, I've been doing remote vocal sessions & collaborating with clients in LA, Germany, Brazil- all over the world! My home studio is built out with Logic ProX, Yamaha HS5 Monitors, Shure SM7B Microphone, Astin Origin Microphone and more. With my vocal tone, I can bring you a Dua Lipa vibe, a Lana Del Rey vibe or something in between like Halsey. I know what works for Pop EDM and the sync world so if you are looking to get placements I can help you get there!

I offer:
- High quality demo/commerical vocals
- Professional songwriting/topline (lyric and melody)
- Vocal tuning/comping/arranging (bgvs, harmonies, adlibs)

Send me a message and let's get to work!

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Kiki has an exceptional voice and is a great professional. It's the first time we've worked together and yet I have the impression that she immediately understood what I wanted.
I really felt her enthusiasm in wanting the best for my track. I felt it through her communication and also when I listened to the rendering of her work.
It's high level! Thank you Kiki!

Interview with Kiki Halliday

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I was really proud of a song I wrote with my friend and artist Matt DiMona. Matt came to me with the idea for a song that would eventually end up on his EP "Up All Night". He had no label or team, but he had an organic following that really loved and supported his music. Our song "Next 2 U" ended up hitting #8 on Spotify US and Global Viral Charts. That opened up a lot of doors for me and made me realize my love for electronic pop music.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Working on a few EPs under different artist names and writing a lot of pop songs to pitch!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Yes! JT Roach (vocalist, songwriter, guitar player), Jon Worthy (producer, guitar/vocals/ songwriter)

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital because it is easily accessible for those that don't have a ton of money and resources, and for someone like me who is traveling a lot, I love being able to take my DAW with me wherever I go!

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise to listen to you, communicate back and forth as much as needed and I promise that you will be happy and want to work together again at the end our our project.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love singing, hearing other's creations and meeting new people!

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Do you want to remain annonymous?? Depends on the song and if it fits my artist brand!!

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That I work alone all the time. That's not true, I love to collaborate, in person and remote!

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Are there any song references? What is this projected intended for? Do you want a straighter vocal or more pop inflections? Is there anything you particularly love about my vocal? What should I avoid for your song?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Make sure you are working with someone experienced in your genre and someone who has experience recording remotely. Always feel free to ask as many questions as needed and let your provider know exactly what you want. Don't be afraid to ask for a revision session. References are always appreciated as well!

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Focusrite, SM7B, yamaha keyboard with Midi, Acoustic guitar and laptop. Cables too!

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started doing professional vocals for TV when I was in college at The University of Southern California. After college is when I really started pursuing the songwriting and vocal production for TV and Film. I have been writing since I was 19 and professionally recording vocals for the last 5 years. I moved to Nashville from LA 4 years ago and I make frequent trips back and forth.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Laidback

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I'd like to work with Halsey, Dua Lipa and Benny Blanco. Those are huge artists that have a huge global reach and I'd love to have my songwriting or vocals be heard by lots of people. I want to share my voice with the world.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: I like to record vocals in sections so keep the same vocal tone in tact. So for example, I'll record V1 and V2 before I get into the Chorus. It keeps the same vocal tones together, especially if the chorus is a lot bigger/higher than the Verses.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Pop, EDM, soul pop. rnb

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is vocal production. I am confident that I can make the song sound like what the client hears in their head and I will send high quality comped vocal files.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring a very unique vocal tone and cadence. My voice has some natural distortion if you want it, or I can keep it super clean for the more traditional pop vocal sound. I can do bluesy and I can do sassy. My vocal can sound like a big pop star (Halsey, Lorde etc) or it can sound unique and undiscovered. I will turn a client's song into the real deal.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: Usually I grab a matcha or coffee and head downstairs to my studio around 10 or 11am. Then I'll play around on my keyboard for a bit to get warmed up and start listening to some music as well. It could be the latest mix of a song I wrote or it could be a new music Friday playlist. Then, I'll begin to listen to my project for the day. Listen through the track a few times. start reviewing the lyrics and get into the mood. That's when I will begin my vocal tracking process. I like to comp the vocal as I go and sing similar sections together (i.e. sing V1 and V2 and then CH and bridge). I usually send a lead vocal comp to my client before jumping into background vocals so that I can ensure they are happy with our work before I get deeper into the process. When I am complete with my vocals and the client approves. I will send a zip of all of my vocal files over in Google Drive or Dropbox. I love working with clients more than once so I'll follow up every now and then and see what they have been up to!

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I am set up in my home studio in Nashville, TN. It is a cozy treated corner where I have all my gear accessible at anytime. For microphones, I typically use my Shure SM7B, especially when I'm on the road or on writing trips. I've got my MPK mini keyboard for any midi needs and studio monitors for quality listening sessions. I work with Logic ProX and I use Melodyne or the built in Logic tuner for vocal edits. I am extremely exprienced in comping vocals and getting the perfect lead vocal as well as the right amount of BGV's.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I am super inspired by pop writers and artists like Julia Michaels, as well as Lorde, Lana Del Rey and Miley Cyrus. admire songwriters like Emily Warren, Amy Allen, Dan Wilson. I love female producers like Chelsea Cutler, Alex Hope and Alina Smith. I am inspired by the left of center writing that producer Jack Antonoff does with his artists and I LOVE music by DJ's like Kygo, Gallantis, Gryffin, Tiesto and more.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I bring written songs to life with my unique vocal tone and ability to control my delivery to perfectly fit the song. I also do cover songs and can emulate big pop star vocals like Halsey, Lana Del Rey, Billie Eilish, etc.
