Hello everyone, I am Marco, a seasoned musician with over 30 years of experience playing the piano and synthesizers. I specialize in a variety of musical styles including rock, prog metal, neo soul, R&B, funk, and pop, and I have honed my skills to bring a unique and dynamic sound to each performance.

I have an extensive collection of virtual instruments, including Omnisphere 2.6, Repro 1/5, Keyscape, GSI - VB3 II, Komplete 13 Ultimate, and many other libraries, which provide me with an array of sounds and options to craft my music.
My collection of gear includes a top-notch desktop PC, the Yamaha MODX6, Seaboard Rise 25, Touché SE, Roland RD-150, and some other controllers.

Marco just continues to impress upon the music I send him. This must be the 15th song he has worked on for me, and he just continues to blow my mind with his musical imagination, and improvisation, whenever I send him a melody. Thats why I call him, Marco the Maestro, which means, the Master.

Marco has got to be the top go to keyboard player on this site. The man is just the greatest when it comes to anything keyboards. This time I sent a roots rock reggae, and Marco delivered some wicked tracks, that just had me smiling and grooving all night. Thank you once again!

Interview with Marco Gnoatto

  1. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  2. A: A supercomputer with every plugin/library that exists, a good controller, a Hammond, a soundcard and really nice and comfy headphones (cause the birds and sea would upset my hearing if I choose monitors :p)

  3. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  4. A: I use Cubase 10.5 pro in a PC AMD Ryzen 9 3950x, 64Gb of RAM and 2,5Tb of SSD. I mostly use vst libraries (like Omnisphere 2.6, Falcon 2.1, Kontakt), but I have a Komplete audio 6 mili 2 to record audio from the following keys: Yamaha MODX6, Roland RD-150, MicroKorg XL, Korg Kross, Novation XStation.

  5. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  6. A: I'm working and I will continue to work with my wife in a duo as producer and pianist. With my band Savia, we're all friends and they always have something beautiful to share. Also, I did several songs with Jazzy D through SoundBetter and I'm very proud of how those songs are sounding.

  7. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  8. A: I'm working on recordings, backing tracks, and playing live with a gospel choir.

  9. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  10. A: I would recommend Ezequiel Rivas if you want a killer bass, I played with him a lot and he's truly amazing and has a beautiful gear. Also, I would recommend Jazzy D, whom I met through SoundBetter, it does great productions and he's a top guy.

  11. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  12. A: I always try to play what the customer needs/wants or I won't be happy.

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: I started to play piano at 8, becoming a professor of classical piano and musical theory at 18. I had my first bands in high school. Then I studied jazz, tango and folklore. My career began immediately after that, playing with many and really different bands, recording, making backing tracks, composing for theater plays, etc. So I started to play 32 years ago, but I would say that my career started 20 years ago.

  15. Q: How would you describe your style?

  16. A: I don't really know how to describe it. It would be a mix of all the styles I learned over the years.

  17. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  18. A: Stevie Wonder, cause he's the God of music to me.

  19. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  20. A: Always listen to the other musicians and play with them.

  21. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  22. A: I love all kinds of music, so I want to get involved in recording all genres, always accepting my limitations and staying true to the customers.

  23. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  24. A: I would say creativity.

  25. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  26. A: I try to deliver what the customer and the song need.

  27. Q: What's your typical work process?

  28. A: I listen to the song a couple of times and then I start to play over the song till I find something. Then I record and listen to it to see if I like it, and then I maybe record a second option to send to the customer so he can choose.

  29. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  30. A: Although I get inspired by a lot of musicians that play all kind of instruments the ones that always get me inspired are Shaun Martin and Cory Henry from Snarky Puppy, and Stevie Wonder.

  31. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  32. A: I record pianos, keys and synths.

  33. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  34. A: If I can deliver the midi also, and my answer is: "Yeah, no problem".

  35. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  36. A: That sample-based instruments are inferior to the real ones.

  37. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  38. A: I ask them if they have any reference music I can listen to, if they can deliver a multitrack, if they know the BPM of the song and some other technical stuff.

  39. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  40. A: I'm a digital guy. I love the portability and the sound now it's amazing.

  41. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  42. A: That I will try my best every time and that the job won't end until they are happy with the result.

  43. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  44. A: To do new things and, thanks to SoundBetter, to be able to do it anywhere in the world.
