As a writing and recording artist, I am interested in collaborating with producers and musicians who are looking for an open-minded, creative drummer with an innate sense for melodic rhythm and feel.
While I currently live just outside Seattle, WA, I was raised in Nashville, TN where I cut my teeth in the music industry. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to perform passionately in front of thousands on SXSW Main Stage, Vans Warped Tour, Bamboozle Festival and various tours across the US, UK and Europe.

Interview with Kyle Adams
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Biggest misconception is that I only play loud and fast. I am much more than a rock drummer. I am an element of the song that keeps listeners engaged.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How far do you want me to take the creative footprint?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Understanding that if you are looking for a certain "type" of drummer, you will not get that with me. You are going to get a Kyle-sounding recording no matter what the vibe or genre of song is - meaning that the notes coming through your speakers will have my DNA clear and present.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I was a hired touring drummer for many years and transitioned into a remote session drummer as I grew my family.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Dynamic, creative and energetic
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Working with someone like Neal Avron, Howard Benson, David Bendeth or Brendan O'Brien would be a great learning experience.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't overthink your chain. If it sounds good to you, that is absolutely all that matters.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Normally Rock with a dash of Pop, Country, and Post-Hardcore.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Consistent hitter.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Palpable energy.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: A standard flow begins with a band or producer bringing me a track that has no drums on it or midi guide drums. If the client wants the drums played identical to the midi (or old drums) I will play it as close-to with a human touch. If the client wants me to do "my thing", I will play for the song with my flavor. The iteration process can be as simple as no revisions or 1-3 passes before nailing the right end-to-end take.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a simple and humble setup with 8 channels running from an 18i20 through Logic Pro with a range of mid-range microphones in a 500 square foot home studio. The studio is full of windows and concrete floors yielding a lively room sound.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I specialize in remote session drum tracking for Rock, Pop, Country, Post-Hardcore and more. Bands and producers come to me for my playing style and established sonic palette. Over the years I have refined a sound that resonates deeply with other drummers and producers that I adapt into their recordings.
