Interview with Chris Doss

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I got to do a record with 2 Live Crew. I produced and helped co-write. It was an interesting experience to say the least.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Currently working with indie artists and expanding my catalog.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital, because I know next to NOTHING about analog... Which reminds me, I should get back into that.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I will deliver work to the absolute best of my ability. As long as direction is clear from the client, I will always deliver on the mark.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Creating. More so, being able to be a part of multiple projects across a broad spectrum of sound. Also, making my own hours is great too.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm a huge fan of Max Martin as an overall producer and songwriter. My mentor Dave Pensado is my inspiration for getting to mixes to sound the very best possible.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I'm a producer in the oldest form of the word. I specialize in taking a project from start to finish. Whether it be an instrumental composition from scratch or fleshing out a preexisting idea. I'm also a singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist, so I'm able to top line tracks or add live instrumentation. From there I'm also a vocal producer which is my favorite aspect of the overall process. Taking the record and making it a finished product is a crucial aspect that I've spent years studying, therefore I'm able to mix and master as well.
