Warner Chappell, BMG, APM are some of my happy clients. I would be very happy to work also with individual artists on soundbetter. You need guitar & bass tacks for your song or full production/arrangement of your demos/ideas...hit me up and lets create some music together.

Hi, I'm Semih Yanyali. I grew up in Istanbul, studied music in Munich and spent the last ten years between California and Austin, TX. I've spent 20 years touring, recording, composing, mixing and running my own studio & record label.

I write and produce for labels/libraries like Warner Chappell, Sony, APM and others. Have released songs and albums worldwide.

Hit me up if you want to work on your ideas, demos and turn them into professionally recorded, produced, mixed and mastered songs. I play/write what the song calls for.

From the initial communication to the end, working with Semih was an absolute pleasure. His sparse yet tastefully chosen notes elevated the song emotionally to new levels, adding depth and resonance that truly transformed the track.

Interview with Semih Yanyali

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: I will serve the song and your artistic direction/vision and not my own ego!

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: At the moment I am about to finish an 5 song album/EP for APM music in styles Funk, Soul, RnB. Right after it I will start a Southern Rock album for Warner Chappell. Also in the mean time I do keep on producing individual artists and their songs.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Both, there is down and upside for each. Combination is the best. Though if the song is good, it does not matter analog or digital, what gear, brands etc are in use.

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: I would suggest, before the actual process starts have a zoom call/facetime etc with the producer, try to get a feeling if the producer is really focusing on your song and style and understanding the direction so she/he can elevate the art.

  9. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  10. A: 1) a computer 2) My Apollo interface 3) One of my custom shop guitars (Tele or Les Paul) 4) Headphones or monitors 5) Midi keyboard

  11. Q: How would you describe your style?

  12. A: I grew up listening Rock, Funk, Pop but than at some point studied Jazz and guitar.

  13. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  14. A: Put that mouse down, move that screen to left or right of your desk. Leave the center free and close your eyes and just listen. Stop looking at plugin windows, numbers, wave form more than needed. Your ears without the distraction of your eyes will lead you the right direction much faster.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: I play guitar, bass. arrange, mix and master but I would say my strongest trade is being the producer in the room and putting together all the parts and musicians.

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: I quite often hear from artists, colleagues I work with that I don't play, produce too much and go with what the song and style of the artist calls for, which is probably the most important part of being a producer.

  19. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  20. A: I work from Austin Audio Lab in Austin/TX. We run AAL with 3 other colleagues together. We have 2 editing, 1 main control room and ofcourse also a live room. We own, play and have 20+ instruments mixed up and ready to record in our live room. We can record live up 18 channels simultaneously which is enought to record most bands. We do have some of the best mics, amps, monitors, plugins, interfaces out there. Also we own custom shop instruments...from start to end, i don't think we have any single weak point in the signal chain.

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: I compose, produce, record, mix for labels as Warner Chappell, BMG, APM etc. I do also arrange and produce individual artists, their songs. Sometimes I can be also just the guitar or bass player on a production.
