Great to work with. Very creative and professional producer. Got exactly the sound I was looking for. Will hire him again!
Daniel has been a blessing to work with. Through the years i've learned what i want and expect from a producer......and he delivers just that with an ear for the smallest details. Besides that he's a very relaxed guy to work with, honest and open, always keepin the best interest for the song in check. I can definitly recommend him!!
Daniel did many of my productions, some of the best productions I have ever heard. His hearing is impeccable, he can hear all the details of music which allows him to bring productions to the next level. He can mix every aspect of music, instruments, vocals, soundscapes, drums and so much more. What can I say, I am very very happy with the work Daniel has done for me!! His mastering is perfect 2!

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Sunnie Williams, excellent vocals and topline writing!
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The project I am really proud of is 'The Wanderer's latest EP. The amount of emotion I got to capture when recording it and bringing even more out when mixing is still very special to me.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Producing EDM songs for Raw & Lucid
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital, it is the future. even though I love analog aswel. But the convenience is so much worth nowadays.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will work on it until it's absolutely finished and you are happy.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: It's music, what else do I have to say?
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How I do things. Depending on the technical level I explain in easy language or very technical, I love to share my experiences.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: A great mix is very expensive. Of course a lot of great mixers are very expensive, but don't forget the people who can do a great mix that is maybe a bit different but still great at a much affordable level. Talk with some mix engineers and find the right one for you.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What's the story behind the song? how did the writing process go? What is your vision and how would you like the track to evolve from where it is at?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Find someone to work with that understands your music, and the feel of your music. Get on the same line and the mixing will be what you are looking for.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My laptop, Headphones, Slate VMS, Clarett and a coffee machine!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started as a student of music production and engineering, after that i started working for a big commercial studio in Amsterdam and 2 years a go I started my own recording studio. I often work as a freelancer for all kinds of music and audio projects.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: full of character, warm, open and big
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Any artist that brings a good vibe!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: character, its all about character. That thing, obvious or not, that makes the song unique and stand out.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: All kinds of music, I have worked on pop productions, rock, EDM and hiphop. I think that a commercial mixer must be able to work with al kinds of music and make the song sound the best it can.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I am efficient, my strong suit is to zoom into the feel of the song and bring the energy out
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: An artist brings al the great ingredients to a great song, my job as a mixer is to make that into a fantastic dish of music. all the right nuances and flavor in the right spots.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start with listening to the song to get an impression, then I will talk with the producer/artist to see what they would like to happen to the song. From there I start the mix. leveling out the basic elements, understanding what makes the song drive/live and start to bring that out. when the foundation is clear i start polishing all the individual elements to sit in the mix. I keep polishing until it is exactly how the artist wants it.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work in the box, through a Focusrite Clarett 8preX and to my Adam A7X or neumann speakers, a ballance between midrange definition and big and open sounding speakers. this lets me focus on different stages of the mix.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love artist with their own unique sound, might it be Skrillex or Hans zimmer, when you hear a piece that is created by either one, you recognise the sound immediately. Seeing people express and communicate their story inspires me to make that story shine a bit more with a great mix.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Shaping sound, finding out the essence behind the sound that the artist is looking for. It is the most rewarding to find that you can sculpt their songs and bring out 'that' sound of the artist.
