Vocal tuning and editing can have a huge impact on a track! I specialise in tuning, time alignment, and comping vocals - I have a LOT of experience in turning decent vocalists into great ones and great vocalists into polished ones. VOCAL TUNING - Using industry standard pitch correction software (Melodyne), I will tune your vocal track so it sounds as natural as possible. Depending on your needs, I can target only the areas that need tuning the most, apply light pitch correction across the whole track, or turn your vocalist into a perfect and polished one with every note

VOCAL TIMING - Being in time with the music is everything! I will make sure your vocals are aligned correctly with the music, while still keeping the natural flow of the melody and lyrics. I can also adjust the timing and length of individual words and phrases using Melodyne, fixing any areas where the vocal performance is too fast or slow

VOCAL COMPING - This is the process of choosing the best takes from your recordings and cutting them together. I have a great ear for recording and vocal quality and I can select the takes that are perfect and/or will work best with further editing

VOCAL CLEAN UP EDITING - I can remove/reduce as many pops/clicks/mouth sounds as possible as well as reducing background noise

VOCAL GAIN LEVELLING - I can adjust the volume of your vocals, word by word, so that the level is more consistent across the track. This makes your vocals easier to mix

Look although it’d fair better to have your vocals recorded in an ideal setting, sometimes circumstances faced don’t allow that, but maaaaaaan Emma is literally a cheat code to that. Every time I work with her I am always left amazed. Her work ethic, return speed, and willingness to tackle any genre with no judgment, just full emersion, is truly a blessing. Interview with Emma Denney

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My career in audio production started back in 2013 at Pinewood Studios in England. I worked primarily as a Sound Editor, while rising through the ranks to Senior Sound Editor, and finally to Editorial Operations Manager. With this company I specialised in dialogue and vocal editing in over 42 different languages, for major international feature films worldwide. Since leaving the company, I have been pursuing a freelance career using the skills I have honed, and building a client base up from scratch.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I am a singer myself, so I understand how the voice works and how it can sound its most natural. There are ways to approach tuning that comes from understanding how a vocal take is performed, and the various elements involved such as natural vibrato, breaks in the voice and the importance of 'bridge notes' between phrases. I also bring care! I really really care about every single track I work on. I mean it.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To have them 100% completely happy with the end result, no matter how many changes they want me to make. Vocal production is a very subjective game.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The moment when I sit back, listen through a track that I've just finished tuning, and smile at the difference I've just made to the song... it's so satisfying!
