Ecstatic! Couldn't be happier. I'm pretty picky and the first draft was almost perfect, but I requested a few minor changes and Yoad got it just right. I was behind schedule and was hoping for a quick turnaround and he got it done in a few days, even over the Memorial Day weekend. I have used Yoad before and will use again happily. Very reasonably priced also. Thanks, Yoad. You're a world class mixer.

Interview with Yoad Nevo
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I have worked with many great artists and have a million stories... I love what I do!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I’m always working on a few projects in different genres - it keeps me on my toes and helps me stay focused and up to date with new music.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I believe in both analog and digital. Analog gear provides a warmth and texture that’s hard to replicate, but digital offers convenience and recall ability that makes the process more precise. It’s all about using the best tools for the job.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise to my clients is that I will always treat their music as if it were my own - giving it the attention and care it deserves, with no shortcuts.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being a part of the creative process, taking an idea and turning it into something real that people can feel. It’s incredibly rewarding to see artists connect with the final version of their music.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Clients often ask how long it will take to finish their track. My answer is that it depends on the song and what it needs - but generally, I work very quickly when I connect with the track.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception about what I do is that mixing or producing is simply about making a track sound "louder." There’s so much more involved - such as bringing out the story of the song and making sure every part contributes to its emotional impact.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: My advice is to work with an experienced mixer! Technical skill is very important, and aligning on the vision and feel of your music will also make a big difference.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: If I were on a desert island, I’d take one of my Neve channels, a Neumann U87 microphone, a pair of Genelec 8040, a laptop with a powerful DAW and Waves plugins, and a good pair of headphones. Those five items would let me make quality recordings even in isolation.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My career path began with my love of music and technology. I started working in studios in the '90s, building my skills from engineering to production. Over the years, I've worked with many artists across genres, which helped shape my understanding of different sounds and production styles.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is a blend of precision, punch and emotion. I like to create tracks that are detailed, balanced, and polished but also feel alive and dynamic. The emotional connection is always at the forefront of my approach.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: A good music production tip is to always start with the vocals. The vocal is the most important part of most songs, so once you’ve made that sound great, everything else will naturally fit around it.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on a wide range of music genres, but I’m particularly known for working on pop, electronic, and rock. I enjoy versatility, so I also take on alternative and indie projects that challenge me in different ways.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is probably my attention to detail, particularly in mixing. I make sure that every element is in its right place and has the space it needs, all while ensuring the track stays cohesive and has an emotional pull. I have mixed over 5000 songs and I still enjoy the process every time!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: What I bring to a song is a balance of musicality and technical expertise. I focus on enhancing the emotional impact while ensuring the song sounds great on any system. It’s about creating the right space for the song to breathe and making sure all elements shine without stepping on each other.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical work process starts with getting to know the artist and the track well. I like to immerse myself in the song, understand the story behind it, and what the artist wants to convey. From there, I work in phases—starting with structural adjustments or creative production elements, moving on to the detailed mixing process, and then refining everything until it feels just right.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup is quite hybrid, with a mixture of analog gear and modern digital tools. I use a combination of high-end outboard equipment, 60 channel vintage Neve 5316 analog mixing desk, alongside a powerful DAW environment. It allows me to have the best of both worlds—classic analog warmth with the flexibility and precision of digital processing.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I draw inspiration from legendary producers like Trevor Horn, Brian Eno, and George Martin. Each of them has a unique ability to bring out the best in artists, combining technical precision with creative magic.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I do for my clients involves Mixing, Mastering and Production. I work on bringing out the essence of a song, often transforming ideas or rough demos into fully realized, polished masters. This means both focusing on the sonic quality through mixing and mastering, while helping shape the creative aspects during production.
