Interview with GreenHouseMix
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I have recorded and mixed in 5.1 surround a soundtrack for a documentary film War Dance. The film was nominated for the Academy Award in 2007.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I use both.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on a variety of different styles of music, ranging from pop-rock, classical, hip hop.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: If possible I'd like to be involved in pre production with my clients, so I can have a better understanding of their style and aesthetics. When I receive the tracks for mixing I first spend time researching the genre and listen to the references. Then I proceed mixing.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have Pro Tools HD setup with 32 I/Os, Pro Control surface, Alan Smart C2 compressor and Great River mic preamps.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love the work of Bob Clearmountain, Andrew Scheps, Steve Albini, Michael Brauer, Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois etc...
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Even though I'm a recording engineer, most of my work as of late is mixing. My clients usually provide individual tracks that are sometimes finished/edited/pitch corrected and sometimes raw. As a mixing engineer I put all those tracks together and make my clients' music sound just professional/ just like they envisioned them at the inception.
