Chuck Sabo on SoundBetter

Seal, Brian Adams, Elton John, XTC, Gary Barlow, Natalie Imbruglia, Etienne Daho, are just a few of my credits. Any genre, any vibe, Chuck is working at the very highest levels of the drum/percussion world. He's been doing this a long time, and literally zero of the other people we hired before Chuck come close - Ken C 844****

On my audio samples can listen to the actual 1st takes that I send to my SoundBetter clients for their feedback, and revision suggestions.
I've got a great sounding studio, ( you can read the reviews) and there're some pictures below, and recordings to the right.
I'm an engineer and mixer, but first & most of all, I'm a drummer. Drum tracks from my studio are used on TV & Film, and released on vinyl and all digital platforms.
It helps that I'm endorsed by Yamaha Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, Vater Drumsticks, Remo Drum Heads, Audio Technica Microphones, Adam Audio Monitors, and Yamaha Audio

Let me know what you'd like, style & sound wise. Then send your files.
All I need is a rough mix of your song with (if you have) & without drums starting from 00.0, & the BPM.
After I've done the recording, I'll email you an Mp3 of your song with my drum take. Then we'll talk about any changes that may be needed. Once we're happy, and mark the job complete, I'll send you all 14 individual drum tracks, and a stereo drum mix.

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

14 separate drum tracks:

1- Kick, 2- Kick (2nd), 3- Snare Top (main), 4- Snare Bottom, 5- 10" Snare Top, 6- Tom 1, 7- Tom 2, 8- Overhead L, 9- Overhead R, 10- Ride Cymbal, 11- Hi Hat, 12- Room L, 13- Room R, 14- Large Room

Contact me through the green button above and let's get to work.

Chuck is one of the most talented drummers I’ve come across. His performances are filled with an untrainable passion, energy and creativity. I highly recommend working with him if you are looking to feature real drums on your songs, you will be thoroughly impressed.

Any genre, any vibe, Chuck is working at the very highest levels of the drum/percussion world. He's been doing this a long time, and literally zero of the other people we hired before Chuck come close. Honesty, without much direction at all, he knows just what to do. The recordings are perfect, easy to use, easy to mix with. Service is great too. Yeah, yeah, I'm gushing, but seriously he's great on all fronts.

There is no other drummer we trust with our music. Lots of other drummers have a good sound, but Chuck combines that with a keen sense of the details- bringing out the best in every track. To do that takes a ton of experience and talent- which Chuck has in spades! Great service, great guy, EPIC results!

Interview with Chuck Sabo

  1. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  2. A: Only good music! Something that inspires me. Melodic & groove oriented music I guess.

  3. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  4. A: Groove & creativity, & great recordings! I'm a songwriter, so naturally I play for the song. Many times I recored drums to just a vocal and a guitar, and it was built up from there.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: Another Level! Great sounds, Excitement, Creativity, & Fat Pocket Grooves!

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: I received the files, right out the arrangements, and record! Then my manager Mike sends out an MP3 of my performance. If there are any revisions required, I will discuss them with the clients. Then do my best to make sure they're happy, & come back again & again! Communication is very important to me!

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: Big Sound Studio - Is A recording studio, designed and built by Flavio Acoustics Ltd. for the main purpose of recording drums. Check out his Instagram, you'll be blown away by his designs! It's equipped with a Mac Pro, ProTools 11, Urie LA 4s (vintage) valve compressor/limiter, Studio Spares Valve pre Amps, TL Audio Dual Valve pre amp, and similar Valve pre amps, Allen & Heath 2400 mixing desk, and the list keeps growing. 2 Stereo valve mics, and 1 mono Neumann TLM 103 in the live room, and 2 close mics on the Bass drum, Snare top, Snare bottom, Tom 1, Tom 2, Hi Hats, Over Heads Left & Right, 10" snare Top, Ride cymbal... 14 separate Drum tracks in total. Yamaha Maple Custom Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, lots of percussion. Assortment of Top End microphones, Neumann, AKG, Shure, Audio Technica, etc. including a couple vintage valve mics.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: Online / Remote Live Drumming & Percussion/ Programming/ and Mixing!

  13. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  14. A: An LP for a new signing to CBS, at Big Sound Studio. Then online recording for two songwriters from SoundBetter. But every week/month is different! My solo album 'Running The Human Race', (release early 2019) and single 'The Politician' released end of 2018.

  15. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  16. A: I've had nothing but good experiences with all the artists and producers I've worked with through SoundBetter! I know a lot of great players who are now with SoundBetter, and I'm always happy to recommend the right player for the right job.

  17. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  18. A: It's personal choice! I know for a fact from recording on 2" tape, it sounds warmer & fatter. Especially drums. But the editing and sound of Pro Tools, is amazing!

  19. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  20. A: Are you available to play on this song? It'll be my pleasure!

  21. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  22. A: What feel, vibe, & sounds are you looking for? Do you have a reference song that may help? Are you open to suggestions?

  23. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  24. A: Online / Remote work.... Because of so much under pricing, people think they can get quality work, that sounds great & adds to the song for next to nothing! But, you really do get what you pay for!!

  25. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  26. A: As drummer and musical director for all Natalie Imbruglia Tours & records. The Elton John albums 'The Lion King' and 'Duets For One. The XTC album 'Apple & Venus'. Obviously for all the Hit records & great LPs I'm drumming on!

  27. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  28. A: Unfortunately online sessions are not as personal as being in a studio together. But with the right communication, it should still be very enjoyable and great for the songs! That they can enjoy the process, and walk away happy!

  29. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  30. A: Creating great sounds, and playing great original rhythms, in the pocket. Also playing to some great new songs!

  31. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  32. A: You always get what you pay for! If it looks too good to be true, it probably is! Do the best job you can, and finish it, before playing your songs to any industry people. Do not expect them to imagine what you hear. Spend a little & do it right!

  33. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  34. A: I've already worked with so many greats, but I would enjoy working with Peter Gabriel, Earth Wind & Fire, Foo Fighters, and many more..... I love the songs, the grooves, and the pros that they are!

  35. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  36. A: It usually sounds right when it feels right! Another GREAT tip is.... avoid the Demoeyetis Disease! When a musician is replacing a programmed part that they've grow so accustom to, Take the time to get used to that musicians contribution, and avoid just getting your programed parts copied!! Listen with a open creative mind, before reacting!

  37. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  38. A: Steve Gadd, John Bonhom, Steve White (Earth Wind & Fire), Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Foo Fighters, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, Singer Songwriter, Folk, and many others!

  39. Q: How would you describe your style?

  40. A: Creative Pocket Groove Drumming
