Drummer and producer 25 years experienced in various musical generes and for many artists. Maximum attention at instruments, vintage, modern and electronic sounds. Great room sound and only top microphones. Collaborations with important progressive rock, experimental, and jazz groups, pop artists, songwriters and soundtrack composers.
I love record my drums and enhance the tracks of the artist I work with.
During this process for me is fundamental entering with mind and body in the mood of the song. I choose the right setup, with a extreme importance in the tuning, and on creating che right sound for the track. The choice and position of the microphones is also foundamental. If required I do drum arrangiaments for the tracks I have to play on.
I always sand an mp3, and if all is ok I send all the drum track up to 16 files.
I'm proud to be endorser of Ludwig drums, Paiste cymbals, Vic Firth drumsticks, Remo drumheads and Roland electronics, and to play amazing instruments. I have a great studio room sound that make my drums sound incredibile! My gear now is:

Dario is very good and precise. He also has a myriad of equipment to give you just the sound you're looking for. Highly recommended!
Dario is a dream to work with, very creative and understands your project thoroughly. He also provides his own inputs and ideas
Tecnicamente preparatissimo, riesce a suonare ogni genere musicale come va suonato.

Dario is an excellent and talented drummer and producer. I recorded a record with him and was blown away by his production expertise and incredible drumming. I am a signed Warner Brothers artist and Warner Chappell writer and I highly recommend Dario for everyone. 5 Stars!!
Dario as well as being a friend is an exceptional drummer and his contribution to "The Ancient Samovar" on www.ellesmere-project.com was highly professional and of highest quality. Thanks again Dario, a warm hug from the heart. Roberto Vitelli
Amazing drummer, stunning equipment, great sound
Interview with D a r i o E s p o s i t o
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My project DEELAY, experimental music in between on post rock - electronic and prog atmospheres, now mixing the second album. An important italian author and songwriter, Massimo Giangrande, with a vintage and acoustic sound. My wife jazz latin project Federica Baioni 4tet. A library project recording for a film soundtrack maker Stefano Switala. An electronic experimental project with the keyboard player Stefano Vicarelli. Many pop recordings for other artists.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That sometimes clients pretend to have a perfect drum track giving a not in time preproduction and not well played. The best should be always giving a midi-quantized pre production. On it I can record a prefect drums take. Than on the acoustic drums, you can sobstitute midi intruments with real bass, guitar and so on ;)
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started singing and playing piano when I was a child. At 13 I discovered drums and I falled in love for this amazing instrument. I started emulating the drum stiles of my drum heroes playing on all the record i had, also having drum lessons. I developed a lot of repertoires of famous rock band as Queen, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Supertramp, and then Genesis, Police, Sting, Dave Matthews Band, all learned note by note. I started soon, at 15 years old to make live shows and I did it a lot, with a lot of rock and blues bands. Then at 21 i decide to do it in my life and studied a lot professionally in the best school of Italy, UM the University of Music, and then I followed privately a many famous session man drummes and jazzist for the lessons. In that period I also discovered the jazz, fusion and experimental music, and I had also many collaboration in that musical styles. So I had the opportunity in my career to play in some of the best big venues in the world, from auditoriums to big stadiums, and I recorded a lot, also to the Village Studios of Los Angeles. In parallel I started doing drum recordings from my studio, I had a great room sound thanks to my project, I had also a very carefull way to touch, tune and microphone my drums, but I was scared about audio engeneers judgment, because I was at firths with cheaper microphones and a cheap audio device. Instead great congratulations arrived from a a great audio ingeneer that was working on the project of my clients and he encouraged me a lot adwising me about the right autoboard to buy. The same form the college and other audio engeneers. So I invested a lot in top microphones, in the best audio device, with great Classic A preamps. Now I'm really happy about all the sounds and my work in recording is significantly increased.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Solid and refined. Present and sensibile at the music. Creative but always serving the music. Very carefull at the touch and at the sound
Q: What's your strongest skill?
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A really beautiful drum sound, drum tracks on the beat that don't need to be edited, and my musical taste and my rhythmic ideas if required, wich I'm very proud of.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Clients send to me the track of the song describing to me how do they immagin the drums on. Somethime they have a midi drum track for having an idea, sometime they ask to me to be creative. So I build the right drumset for the song, with the right drumheads and with a specific tuning. Also the choice of the microphones and the positioning is foundamental for having the right sound. So I start creating the sound with the preamps. Praticing on the song I realize the right drums arrangiament for it. When I have the take that satisfied me, I do a stereo buonce for the client. If he needs 1 or 2 rewiews I come back to the studio for playing the changings that we decided. Then i can send all the separate drum tracks.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: First the room, the sound in it is really amazing for drums! All top Ludwig drums, modern, vintage, jazz, always well tuned with new Remo drumheads. Top Paiste Cymbals, Masters series, 2002Black, Dark Energy, Pstx. Many percussions and electronic Roland stuff for an hybrid it sampler. Only top microphones, Neumann, AKG, Shennheiser, Shure. Antelope Goliath interface is the best with his unique english sound.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My goal for clients is offering great drum tracks, with a great sound and well played, at tempo and pefectly in the style that is needed for the songs. Often clients ask me also to arrange the drums for the track.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired from many musicians of different musical styles. In pop music the drumming of Matt Chamberline, Vinnie Colaiuta or Manu Katchè, productions as Adele, Fiona Apple, Sting, David Bowie, and John Mayer. In rock music: Bonzo grooves, but also all Foo Fighters productions, the vintage sound fo Lenny Kravits, the last productions of Robert Plant. In Jazz music: John Scofield, Diana Krall, Gregory Porter. In Experimental music: Jaga Jazzist, Nerve and The Cinematic Orchestra. In Progressive Rock: Steven Wilson, Porcupine Tree, Genesis, Yes.
