Jonas Westling

Mix Engineer

Jonas Westling on SoundBetter

Jonas Westling is a Swedish born Grammy nominated mixing and recording engineer based in London.

I'm trying to be an creative extension of the artist. My goal is to always bring your vision to life with a mix that connects the listener on an emotional level, because for me it's all about the emotional quality of the music that needs to shine, not the technical aspects. And I will do whatever to serve the song best. Good communication is key. Before every mix we'll have a in-depth conversation about the direction and vision for the track.

I've been mixing and recording records for the last 15 years and have worked with lots of A-list artists in all genres. I'm also a classically trained musician. I think it's vital for mix engineers to have the ears and understanding of chords, harmony and arrangements, as well as the obvious technical side.

I mix with a hybrid setup of analog and digital using a Pro Tools HD setup with Burl DA's feeding a custom made 48ch Neumann summing mixer and analog gear on the most important parts of the mix. I find that gives me the best of both worlds and I'm able to offer quick turnarounds and recalls, as well as best possible sound.
