I'm Tendai Maraire — producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and founder of Chimurenga Renaissance. I co-founded Shabazz Palaces (Sub Pop) and have produced for Spank Rock/Santigold, Pierre Kwenders/Arcade Fire, Flying Lotus, George Clinton, Thundercat, Samini, and more.

I specialize in blending traditional African instruments like Mbira, Marimba, and Ngoma with hip-hop, electronic, classical, and Afrobeat. My sound is deeply rooted in Shona musical traditions and elevated by cutting-edge production. I call it AfroBets—music that honors the past and imagines the future.
