Jazz violinist writing and performing solo violin or string arrangements for your songs!
I was trained from a young age in the art of classical violin. I moved on to jazz as a teenager and studied composition and arranging as a young man. I am now working as a gigging jazz musician in London UK whilst composing and arranging for anybody who likes my sound. Recently worked on the score for Kingsman 2 and have recorded with Giles Martin at Abbey Road Studios in London.
I specialise in writing 4 part violin parts to thicken up the sound of your track. I can also rerecord sampled strings to give them a 'real feel' or can improvise a solo to suit your tracks style. I have the ears of not only a classical musician but a musician who appreciates all styles of modern music also. Look forward to collaborating with you!!!!!

Interview with Matt's Vintage Strings
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been playing the violin for 20 years and recording for people for the last 7 years. I've shaped my playing and recording career on one motto...'Look after the music and the music will look after you'
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: feel, depth, warmth and whatever feels right!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Violin, bow, roisin, spare strings, violin case
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Vintage, jazz infused, classy!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Mic placement is the most important aspect of getting a good sound.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Improvisation!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: most often I am asked to write and record a subtle layered string part for a singer-songwriter or producer. Sometimes I get asked to double a string part someone has already written and recorded with sampled strings as a way of giving it a more realistic sound. I often will just do this by ear if there is no written part. I also specialise in jazz and gypsy swing so am regularly asked to lay down an improvised solo, either on its own or weaving in and out of a vocal line.
