Experienced Session Drummer from Berlin providing high quality remote drum recordings.
Hi, I’m Sami. I’m a drummer/songwriter from Berlin and have spent the last 10 years of my life performing live and in the studio.
I play mainly with my band Sector 5 with whom I hat the pleasure to play all over the world, from Europe to America and even to Africa. Beides this, I play live with different artists and as part of the house band at a local showcase event.
In my studio in Berlin, I offer remote drum recordings with up to 16 tracks. I have a treated room, a great kit, different cymbal options and nice mics.
Since I’m also a songwriter (placements including Sony Music, Kontor Records, and many others), I have always approached the drums from a writer's perspective to serve the song as best I can.
The turnaround time is 7 days max and I will work with you until you are 100% happy with the song.

Interview with Sami van Hasselt
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: If they have any references for the parts, sound or the style
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started playing when I was 9 years old. After years of private lessons, I studied at the British & Irish Institute of Modern Music and have been drumming full-time since I graduated.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Playing to the song.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Passion for the song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I will generally listen to the songa few times to get a feeling for it before I start playing. Then I'll do a couple of run throughs to solidify the ideas I have in mind and once I feel confident with the parts, I'll hit record.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have two different Starclassic kits and different snares, of which my favourite is the Ludwig Supraphonic (most recorded snare in history). I have a variety of different mics with a majority being SE Electronic mics due to an endorsement I have with them. The room is treated with multiple large acoustic panels that I can move around, depening on the sound that the song needs. At the moment I'm using an Apollo with a nice preamp expansion so I can record up to 16 tracks. Usually I go for Kick In, Kick Out, Snare Top, Snare Bottom, Rack Tom, Floor Tom, Overhead L & R, Hats, Ride, Room and a trash mic (or crotch mic)
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Remote drum recordings. If needed, I'll assist with songwriting and arrangement to further improve the song.
