Interview with Buddy DML

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: "One project that stands out for me is the release of my single 'Baby Cayla'. This track holds a special place in my heart because it was a collaboration with my future wife, Cayla, and it marked a significant milestone in my music career. The song blends elements of Afrobeat, R&B, and Hip Hop, showcasing my versatility as an artist. I took on multiple roles in this project, including songwriting, production, and promotion, all under the umbrella of AEDTP WORLD. The inspiration behind 'Baby Cayla' came from my deep appreciation and love for my future wife. I wanted to create a piece that not only resonated with our personal journey but also connected with listeners on an emotional level. The process was both challenging and rewarding, as it pushed me to explore new creative avenues and refine my skills. The positive feedback from fans and the success of the song have been incredibly fulfilling. It reaffirmed my belief in the power of music to convey genuine emotions and stories. This project exemplifies my commitment to producing authentic and meaningful content, and it continues to inspire me in my musical endeavors."

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: "Right now, I’m working on a few exciting projects. First and foremost, I’m focusing on my latest music release, which I’m really excited about. It’s going to be a blend of Afrobeat, R&B, and Hip Hop, with a touch of some new experimental sounds. I’m also working on expanding AEDTP WORLD, bringing more artists and creators into our ecosystem and providing them with the tools and resources to grow. We’re really focused on developing our technology side, with some new software and website features on the way to support music production, web development, and business solutions for creators. And of course, I’m always fine-tuning my skills and learning new techniques to make my next project even better than the last."

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: "While I haven't personally worked with everyone on SoundBetter, there are some incredible talents on the platform that I’d recommend based on what I know and the projects I've seen them work on. But one thing I’m especially proud of is the work I do with AEDTP WORLD, which I’ve helped build into a space where artists, producers, and creatives can thrive. AEDTP WORLD offers full-service music production, distribution, and promotional services, and it's a fantastic choice for artists who want an all-in-one solution for their music career. We provide everything from top-notch mixing and mastering to helping you reach a global audience. So, if you're looking for a place to elevate your music, AEDTP WORLD is definitely a provider I’d recommend. It's more than just a label or platform — it's a full ecosystem designed to help artists succeed."

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: "I love both analog and digital, but if I had to choose, I'd go with digital — especially for production. Digital gives me the flexibility to experiment, layer sounds, and refine tracks in ways that are just more time-efficient. Plus, I can work with high-quality software like FL Studio and Virtual DJ that allows me to manipulate sounds to perfection. That being said, I do appreciate the warmth and character that analog gear brings, especially when it comes to certain instruments or recording methods. I think the key is using both in the right balance. Digital is my main tool, but I love to incorporate analog when I need that extra depth or texture in the sound."

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: "My promise to my clients is simple: I will give you my best. Whether it’s a song, a website, or a tech project, I’m dedicated to delivering top-quality work that not only meets your expectations but exceeds them. I’ll be with you through every step of the process, ensuring that your vision is brought to life just the way you imagined — with creativity, passion, and precision. You can count on me to put my heart into everything I create, and I’ll never settle for anything less than perfection."

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: "What I love most about my job is the freedom to express myself in so many ways. Music is my first passion, but I also get to work on tech, design, and even business projects — and they all feed into each other. Being able to create something from scratch, whether it’s a track, a website, or a new software idea, gives me a sense of fulfillment. The best part? Seeing people connect with what I do. Whether they’re vibing to my music or using something I built, knowing that I’ve made an impact is what keeps me motivated."

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: 1. What genres do you specialize in? Buddy DML: "I specialize in Afrobeat, R&B, Hip Hop, Rap, Amapiano, Gospel, EDM — really, all kinds of genres. I love blending different styles to create something unique. If you’ve got a vibe in mind, I can adapt to it." 2. How do you collaborate with clients on a project? Buddy DML: "Collaboration is key. First, we talk about your vision, what you want the project to say, and who it’s for. From there, I share ideas and keep you in the loop throughout the process, ensuring we create something that speaks to you and your audience. I always make sure we’re on the same page before moving forward." 3. Do you offer mixing and mastering services? Buddy DML: "Yes! I handle all my own mixing and mastering. I believe in making sure each track sounds as polished as possible before it's released. I pay attention to every detail, so your music gets the best treatment." 4. How long does it take to finish a song or project? Buddy DML: "It depends on the complexity of the project. A single song can take anywhere from a few days to a week to fully complete, depending on the revisions and details we dive into. Larger projects or albums might take a bit longer. But one thing’s for sure — I always put in the time and care to make it perfect." 5. Can I collaborate with you on a song? Buddy DML: "Absolutely! I love collaborating. Whether you’re an artist or a creator looking to blend styles, I’m always open to fresh ideas and working together. Let’s make something special!" 6. What’s your pricing? Buddy DML: "Pricing depends on the scope of the project. I work with clients of all sizes, from independent artists to larger companies. Once I understand what you need, I can give you a clear breakdown. But rest assured, you’ll be getting the quality and dedication you deserve." 7. Can you help me with music promotion? Buddy DML: "Yes! Besides creating music, I can also guide you on strategies for promoting your work. From social media to digital platforms, I’ll share tips and resources to help your music get the attention it deserves."

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: "The biggest misconception about what I do is that people think I'm just a musician. While music is my heart and soul, I’m much more than that. I’m also a software developer, a web designer, and a business professional. People often see the finished song or track and think it’s all about the beats and lyrics, but behind every project I take on, there’s hours of learning, experimenting, coding, and strategizing. It’s not just about creating — it’s about mastering the tools that allow me to do it all myself, from start to finish. I’m a creator in every sense, not just someone who makes music."

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: "When I’m working with a new client, I always start by asking the following questions to understand their vision and needs better: What’s the core message or feeling you want your project to convey? This helps me capture the essence of what you're trying to communicate through music, tech, or design. What style or genre are you drawn to? Whether it’s a specific sound, aesthetic, or vibe, I want to know the direction you’re aiming for. Who’s your target audience? Knowing who we’re speaking to allows me to tailor my work to resonate with the right people. What are your goals for this project? Understanding if it’s about brand building, raising awareness, or pure entertainment helps me shape the project’s purpose. What is your budget and timeline? Being clear about these early on ensures we're aligned on expectations and can deliver exactly what you need within your resources. What has been done before, and what’s working for you? It’s always good to know what’s already in place and what’s been successful. This helps me avoid reinventing the wheel and focus on elevating what you have. Are there any collaborations or specific artists/partners you’d like to work with? I’m always open to working with other creatives — knowing your network and partnerships can help me understand the bigger picture. These questions ensure that I align with your vision and can deliver something that truly represents what you're looking for."

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: "If you’re looking to hire someone like me, the most important advice I can give is know your vision and trust the process. I bring versatility to the table — whether it’s music production, software development, or web design. I can adapt to different styles and needs, but it all starts with understanding what you want to achieve. Communication is key. Be clear about your goals, and let’s collaborate to make something unique that truly represents your brand or project. And most importantly, trust me to bring my creativity, passion, and dedication to every single detail — I don’t cut corners, and I don’t settle for anything less than greatness."

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: "If I were on a desert island and could only take 5 pieces of gear, I’d go with the essentials that would keep me creating and surviving. Here’s what I’d bring: A laptop with FL Studio and Virtual DJ — My main tool for music production. It’s all about making beats and recording even if I’m stuck on an island. A high-quality condenser mic — To capture vocals, melodies, and anything else that comes to mind. A portable solar charger — Gotta keep the power going, especially with all the gear I’ll need to run. A MIDI keyboard — It’s essential for playing melodies and creating vibes that can fuel creativity. A multi-tool — For survival and creativity. You never know when you’ll need to build something or fix gear out there! With those five, I could make music, stay connected to my creativity, and survive while I wait to be rescued. Plus, I’d have everything I need to keep the island vibes flowing!"

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: "I started my career at a young age, around 13. I didn’t just wake up and decide to make music — it was something I felt deep inside from the beginning. I began by recording and uploading songs online, learning as I went. At first, I went by the name Emmanuel Deliver DML before I shortened it to Buddy DML, which felt more natural and true to who I am. Over the years, I experimented with different genres, pushing boundaries and honing my skills. Now, three years into my professional journey, I’m not just making music, but I’m also working as a software developer, web designer, and entrepreneur. I’ve learned a lot along the way, and I’m still growing — but I’ve always stayed true to my passion for creating and sharing music with the world."

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: "My style is all about versatility and authenticity. I don’t box myself into one genre — I mix Afrobeat, R&B, Hip Hop, Rap, Amapiano, and even Gospel to create a sound that’s uniquely mine. My music is about connection, emotion, and energy. Whether it’s a smooth R&B track or an upbeat Afrobeat anthem, I make sure my vibe stays real. I bring that passion and raw energy to every song, and I always try to tell a story that resonates with people. My style isn’t just about the sound, it’s about the feeling."

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: "I’d love to work with Rema and Lil Tjay. Rema’s energy and global appeal in Afrobeat is something I admire, and I think our sounds would mesh really well. We could create something fresh and powerful that speaks to a wide audience. As for Lil Tjay, his Hip Hop style and the way he pours emotion into his music is inspiring. He’s one of the few artists who can blend raw street energy with real vulnerability, and I respect that. A collab with him would be fire because we could mix that Hip Hop grit with my versatility, creating something unique."

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: "One tip I swear by is don’t overcomplicate things. Sometimes, less is more. When I’m producing a track, I focus on building a solid foundation with the drums and bass first. Once I’ve got that groove locked in, I layer melodies and vocals on top. If you start stacking too many sounds, the track can lose its energy. Keep it simple, stay focused on the vibe you want, and let the music breathe. Trust me, sometimes those simple moments create the biggest impact."

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: "I work on all kinds of music, but I usually gravitate towards genres that speak to the soul and the rhythm. Afrobeat is my foundation — it’s where I started, and it always brings that energy. But I also dive into R&B, Hip Hop, Rap, Amapiano, and even Gospel. Each genre gives me a different space to express myself. I love blending sounds, taking the best parts of different styles, and creating something new. Whether it's a deep, emotional ballad or a high-energy anthem, I’m all about creating music that connects with people and makes them feel something."

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: "My strongest skill is versatility. Whether it’s creating beats, writing lyrics, or jumping between genres, I’m always adapting to what feels right. I can switch from Afrobeat to R&B to rap without losing my vibe. But it’s not just about the music — I’m also a techie, handling my own software development and web design. I do it all, from the studio to the screen. That’s what sets me apart — I don’t limit myself. I take every opportunity to learn, grow, and perfect my craft."

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: "When I jump on a song, I bring energy, emotion, and authenticity. My voice carries vibes that hit deep — whether it’s a feel-good Afrobeat, a soulful R&B track, or a hard-hitting rap verse. I bring versatility, too. I don’t just stick to one sound — I adapt, elevate, and make the track unforgettable. Every lyric I write has meaning, every hook I sing has purpose. I don’t just make music — I make people feel something. That’s what makes a Buddy DML song different. It’s not just sound — it’s an experience."

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: "My work process always starts with inspiration — it could be a melody in my head, a beat I feel, or something real happening in my life. Once I catch that vibe, I either build a beat in FL Studio or go straight into Virtual DJ to mix and experiment with sounds. From there, I start laying vocals — writing lyrics that speak truth, energy, and emotion. I record, mix, and master everything myself, making sure the sound is clean and powerful. Sometimes I work late into the night, just vibing and perfecting every detail. Whether it’s music, code, or design — I create from the heart, and I don’t stop until it’s right."

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: "My studio setup blends creativity with efficiency. I use Virtual DJ a lot — it’s my go-to for mixing, live edits, and getting the crowd hyped with smooth transitions. It helps me experiment with sounds, test song arrangements, and even prep for performances. Alongside that, I use a condenser mic, audio interface, FL Studio for beat production, and studio monitors for clean sound playback. Sometimes I throw in MIDI controllers to shape melodies from scratch. But real talk — it's not just about having the tools. It's about knowing how to use them to create a vibe. That’s what I do every time I step in the studio."

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: "I get a lot of inspiration from artists like Rema and Lil Tjay. Rema’s sound is fresh and boundary-pushing — he blends Afrobeat with global vibes in a way that really connects with this generation. His creativity and confidence push me to keep innovating in my own music. Lil Tjay, on the other hand, brings that emotional rawness in his music that I relate to deeply. His melodies, his hustle, and the way he tells his story through his pain — that motivates me to keep it real with my fans. I study their work, but I always put my own flavor on everything I do. That’s the Buddy DML way."

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: "The most common type of work I do for my clients is creating powerful and inspirational music that connects with people on a deep level. I produce, write, and perform across multiple genres like Afro beats, R&B, Hip Hop, Rap, Amapiano, and even Gospel. But it doesn’t stop at music. I also build websites, develop software, and help brands grow their presence with tech solutions. Whether it’s sound or code, I deliver excellence — because creativity and professionalism go hand in hand."
