Grammy-nominated mixing and mastering engineer based in North Carolina, working in stereo and Dolby Atmos. I bring a creative, intuitive approach paired with technical precision to help artists shape their sound. Past collaborators include Joe Henry, The Avett Brothers, Jake Fussell, Nnenna Freelon, and Margaret Glaspy,

I came to this work by following my love of music—first as a musician, then as a record-maker. Along the way, I traveled from North Carolina to the Bay Area and back again, collecting more degrees (and miles) than I probably needed. Today, I’m based in a dedicated mixing and mastering studio in the heart of North Carolina, where I collaborate with artists across genres and across the globe.

I'm a Grammy-nominated mixing engineer, also working as a tracking engineer, mastering engineer, and producer when the project calls for it. Whether I’m handling stereo or Dolby Atmos immersive mixes, I aim to bring a creative, intuitive approach, together with technical precision—helping artists realize their vision in its fullest form.

I’ve had the privilege of working with a range of artists, including Joe Henry, The Avett Brothers, Jake Fussell, Nnenna Freelon, Margaret Glaspy, The Steep Canyon Rangers, and Clem Snide.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Jason is absolutely the best mixing/mastering engineer! He'll take care of your precious tracks and make sure they shine as brightly as they possibly can. In addition to sensitive, creative ears and a high level of technical skill, he has very straightforward communication and is extremely efficient/timely. I highly recommend him.

I wouldn't trust my music with anyone other than Jason. Through his expert mixes, he brings out the beauty of my original songs. He has a way of knowing just what my voice and all the instruments need and where they should go. Never overdone, always natural (just how I like them), beautiful, and done efficiently in a timely manner. I wholeheartedly recommend him.

Not only is Jason awesome at what he does, he's great to work with to boot. He was able to translate my incoherent ramblings into a great mix and was super cool about anything I suggested. Really great experience.

Over the past few years, I've had Jason do all my mixing and mastering. I can always count on him to deliver a beautiful result. I'm super picky about the details and he always works with me to get everything just right. Don't hesitate to hire him for your next music project.

I'm so pleased to have chosen Jason to mix and master my latest song. There were some pretty serious issues with the violin recording and the harmony vocals I sent to him but he was able to smooth all of those over beautifully. He is a dream to work with--very efficient, an excellent problem solver, and patient through changes large and small. Most importantly, he grasped my overall creative direction completely, which fully enabled my song to come to life. I couldn't recommend him more highly.

  2. A: I work on all types of music, but I generally get called for Americana, jazz, and world music projects.

  3. Q: How would you describe your style?

  4. A: Although I have a strong technical background in recording, I'm a musician first and I bring a musical, artistic, and creative approach to what I work on.

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: The ability to listen closely to a song and find it's direction.

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: I hope that I bring a fresh approach and unique perspective to any given song, but the main desire is that I find the strength of the artist and the song itself and enhance that in a way that not on captures what the artist is trying to create but surpasses it.

  10. A: I work out of many studios, but do most of my mixing in my home studio. I have a hybrid system running Pro Tools HD and sum through a summing mixer with Apogee Symphony converters.
