Aron Bicskey on SoundBetter

I'm a mixer and Music producer who has mixed well over 1000 songs worldwide.

I am a Mixing engineer and Music producer based in the UK. I am passionate about great-sounding records. Send me your stems and get a radio-ready mix back. I have tons of experience with a wide variety of genres. I enjoy working on different styles of Music. Pop, Rock, Folk, Singer-songwriter, EDM... I'm here for it.

My goal is to help you make music that you are proud of and sounds great. If you have great music, I have the experience to mix it and give the songs the best chance to be heard by many.

I'm a firm believer that serving the song is the best policy. I consider myself to be sensitive to what the song asks me to do and handle it accordingly.

Aron is absolutely outstanding!!.. The Best!!..He has completely transformed my musical ambitions.. Before I was seeing & hearing myself as a keen amateur but now, with Aron’s input, I see myself as a professional artist…The public see me the same way too due to the impeccable production, mixing and mastering standard of Aron’s work.. It is a game changer.. Aron has mixed and mastered ALL my songs ..Until I start my goal of working with Nile Rodgers and/or Trevor Horn I’m not changing Aron for all the money in the world.

I have so far worked with Aron on a single and a 5-track EP. His production and mastering skills are some of the best I've heard in the many studios I've worked with and his technical knowledge was so valuable to me as an artist. He's a really accomplished musician and I felt my songs were in very capable hands.
On top of that, he's a super friendly guy who was great fun to work with and he brought loads of creative ideas to every track. I would highly recommend him.

I have worked with Aron for a number of years now. He has produced and mixed a large number of my tracks and all I can say is that his work is exceptional. He made me feel really at ease from recording to receiving the end result. He pays attention to detail, listens to feedback and takes on board suggestions, and he's just a really decent person to work with. He's kind, accommodating, patient and will always give his absolute best to any project. I highly recommend his services. You won't be disappointed.

Interview with Aron Bicskey

  1. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  2. A: What's your deadline? Do you have any references you would like to share with me? Do you have a production mix? Can you send any stems that have important effects baked in both dry and wet?

  3. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  4. A: I bring my creative ideas if the client lets me be creative with the mixes. Some people are really happy with the arrangement by the time I get to mix it, but now and then clients are happy for me to be a bit more involved with the mixing. This can be as simple as effect processing, or even adding subtle parts to help the content that is already there. This could be anything from a sine wave to support the bass, a subtle pad to help the guitars, or a percussion part to glue the rhythm section. This is of course only if the client is happy for me to do that and only if I feel that it would enhance the mix.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: I'm in the box guy. Plugins have come a long way and they sound great not to mention the workflow. Plugins have sped up the mixing process and allow mixing engineers to work on several projects at a time, and keep costs down that way.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: You will have a mix by the end of the process you are proud of. I will work towards bringing your vision to life and respect your art and the many hours you spent on creating the song(s)

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: I love hearing a song come together and having that feeling when it just works and the song comes to life. I also like challenges when a mix just not giving in and trying to work out why not and how to make it work

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: Mixing is not rocket science or dark art, but the difference between a good mix and a great mix is Experience and time put in

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: Ask questions and see if you get along and like the person. It's important of course to be a capable professional, but building a music production team you can trust is key, so it's always a good idea to have people in your contacts you actually like to work with and understand you.

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: A drum kit, a laptop, a solar power bank, headphones, some sort of satellite internet connection

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I started out in music as a session drummer and through that, I picked up my first producing work, I started to learn on the job and have been producing since 2002. I started working more intensely on my mixing skills in 2010 and have been mixing and producing records since then

  19. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  20. A: Always try to find out what the client hears in their head. Ask for references, either their production mix or other songs they want to sound like. Be humble and understand that it is their record and you are here to make that happen for them. If you love the kick drum to move kidney stones but the artist prefers a more gently approach, find a way to make the client happy as well as yourself happy.

  21. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  22. A: Singer-songwriter, Pop and Rock songs.

  23. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  24. A: Producing and Mixing

  25. Q: What's your typical work process?

  26. A: I listen to the stems as I balance the faders. Run through the song a few times until I have a rough balanced mix. Then I listen to any reference tracks the client sent me. If there are any issues with the stems, or I think a better mix could be achieved by tweaking something by the producer, I get in touch with the client to see if it is possible to do tweaks. I start applying the necessary processing until I am happy with the mix. I do a master before I send the 1st mix to the client, so the final master is not going to be dramatically different. I find it easier for the client to hear the mix as close to the final product I upload the mix to Mixup where they can make comments and leave notes for me on each song. I normally do as many revisions as necessary (within reason) to have the right mix at the end that the client is happy with. I can do a remote screen share session with Audiomovers for any revisions if it is easier to have the client "sitting in" the session. Once the mix is signed off I can recommend a mastering engineer or the client can take the mixes to a mastering house. If the budget doesn't allow for this, I tweak my masters I used to print my mixes and the client can have those

  27. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  28. A: I use Several reference monitors, Adam, KRK. Focusrite Clarette+ 8pre Interface, Slate VSX headphones and DT770 Pro headphones, Waves, Slate Digital, SSL, Brainworx, Soundtoys, Izotope and many more plugins Mac Studio m1 Max

  29. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  30. A: I am inspired by great musicians, especially drummers, as I play drums myself. Steve Jordan is a fantastic drummer and Producer. Aaron Sterling brilliant studio drummer and engineer Dave Weckl is a legend and inspired me to play the drums Mixing heroes are Greg Wells, CLA, Bob Clearmountain

  31. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  32. A: Mixing and Producing Songs
