I am an accomplished music producer, under the artist name Lateral Shift, with my own releases on well respected electronic music labels such as Onedotsixtwo, Movement Recordings and Manual Music. I pride myself on unique sound design and clear and punchy sounding mixes.
I am a musician of 10+ years, specialising in guitar and trumpet, I have a fantastic musical ear and have trained myself to hear problematic frequencies in a mix very well. I am currently studying audio engineering at university, and have had lots of experience prior to my study with producing and mixing my own tracks.
What you will get with my service is affordable prices and professional quality mixdowns; I am completely dedicated to each project I undertake.
I have my own studio in my apartment, with access to state of the art softwares and plugins (including Pro-tools, Ableton, FabFilter, Soundtoys, Waves etc.) I have a a set of Yamaha HS5s and Beyerdynamic DT990 Pros. I am well versed in all aspects of mixing and processing, but specialise in creating wide, expansive mixes.

Interview with Max Brown
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Mixing at low volumes; this was a game changer for me - especially combined with using reference tracks. You can hear really what elements stand out and how they are panned, allowing you to set up your stereo field using just volume and panning, before you start to add any effects.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mainly electronic music, however I have mixed R&B and Indie Rock as well.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Creating wide mixes which sound dynamic and impactful.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a very unique and interesting use of different effects processing, and automation.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually mix the most important elements of a track first, being the drums and the bass; the main rhythmic driving elements.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a compact studio in my apartment, with studio monitors, a few pairs of headphones, a PC with a 28" monitor, and a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface. Extra gear includes: Arturia Keylab 61 MIDI Controller, Shure MV7X Microphone and Moog Minitaur Analog Synthesiser.
