We are a trans-owned studio whose mission it is to provide trans & queer musicians a safe, affordable, and comfortable space for high-quality recordings, mixes, and masters. We specialize in heavy music but do work for all genres of artists, including Victory Over The Sun, Mel Stone, Dreamwell, A Constant Knowledge of Death, and Eevie Echoes.
Aki McCullough and James Goldmann founded Nu House Studios in 2019 after many years of collaborating on recording & production for their own personal bands. We can provide any recording, mixing, and mastering services including drum tracking & full live band tracking.
Aki has a BA in Music Engineering from University of Miami, 20 years training on violin, guitar, and vocals, and 15 years experience in audio engineering. She is a member of multiple bands including Dreamwell, A Constant Knowledge of Death, and Vivid Illusion. James has 15 years training on trumpet, drums, bass, guitar, vocals and in audio engineering. He is also a member of A Constant Knowledge of Death and a past member of Struckout. We are both available and frequently do session instrumental performance for the projects we are recording & mixing on.
As part of our mission to make the studio affordable for trans artists, we operate a Trans Musician Fund, to help cover the costs of trans musicians in need. We fundraise for the fund through donations, merch & compilations on our Bandcamp, and educational production-related Twitch streams:

Nu House is the best studio I have had the pleasure to work with. I have worked on several projects with Aki. Everything she has done with my music has elevated it to a level I didnt think was possible. She is very friendly and receptive to feedback. Her attention to detail helps my music actually sound the way it does in my head. Nu House is the only studio I work with, and you'd be missing out if you didnt work with them too.
Nu House Studios is great! I've used them to record vocals, as well as getting Planepacked tracks mixed and mastered there. Everything I send them comes back sounding stronger and more incisive.
I've had one Victory Over the Sun album mixed and mastered by Aki and another just mastered. The sound she was able to achieve was incredible and she was wonderful to work with, both suggesting possible changes and being receptive to feedback.

I worked with Aki for mastering on a single and was so happy with the end result! The track sounded better than I could have imagined given the mix that was sent to her, and required no revisions. I would work with her again on any project.
