Lonny Eagleton on SoundBetter

I am a session guitarist, and touring musician for Republic Records artist Andy Black. I have performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Today Show, the MMVAs, the Juno Awards, and am an official endorsed artist of PRS Guitars, Orange Amps, D'Addario Strings, 64 Audio, and Mission Engineering.

As a studio musician, I have worked with some of the industry's top producers including Louis Biancaniello (Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin), and Brian Howes (Nickelback, Hinder, Daughtry). With nearly a decade of studio experience, I have performed sessions in pretty much every style imaginable, and know how to deliver a clean take while still retaining the punch and feel that will bring a song to life.

Last year I played guitar on Kate Morgan's major label release "Extra Ordinary" which was featured on a television commercial for the Global Media reality show Hockey Wives and which charted at number 19 on the Canadian pop charts. I love seeing my artists succeed. Let's work together to make your song the next big thing!

Interview with Lonny Eagleton

  1. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  2. A: I run my guitar amp's signal into a Babyface Pro interface, and then into a Pro Tools 12 session on my MacBook Pro. Simple and effective!

  3. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  4. A: I listen to the song's lyrics and try to relate its story to my own personal experiences. Whether it be love, loss, or anything, I write guitar parts that serve those emotions and will help to enhance the song's overall message.

  5. Q: What's your typical work process?

  6. A: Usually the client will send me the song they'd like me to play on, along with references to any music they've been inspired from throughout the process, plus any suggestions on what they'd like from me. This helps me to quickly and efficiently understand their vision and to provide them with the guitar tracks that they are hearing inside their head.

  7. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  8. A: Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, The Weeknd, Guns N' Roses, Nirvana, Brad Paisley, Tom Petty, Amy Winehouse, Rolling Stones, Chainsmokers, David Bowie, Beatles, Avenged Sevenfold, Shawn Mendes, Eagles, AC/DC, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Mayer, Jimi Hendrix, Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran, Queen, Taylor Swift, Van Halen, Zedd.

  9. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  10. A: I am especially proud of having played on international television four times. The most prominent being Jimmy Kimmel Live. It had been a primary goal of mine to perform on Late Night TV, and accomplishing that was very gratifying.

  11. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  12. A: Create the kind of music that YOU would want to listen to. Also don't stress about it, music should be fun!

  13. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  14. A: To deliver the best and most creative ideas that I am capable of. I won't stop until you and I are both completely satisfied with the final result!

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: Usually I work in EDM, Top 40, Rock, Singer/Songwriter, and Indie Pop styles. However I have experience in almost any style of music and feel confident in whatever is asked of me on the guitar.

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: Coming up with interesting guitar ideas that will improve a track by giving it texture, enhancing its lyrical message, and creating supplemental hooks & melodies while not interfering with the vocal.

  19. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  20. A: Electric and acoustic guitar tracks.
