Interview with Greg Kosic

Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Intuitive, "feel based" and methodical.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: No preferences.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: A crucial tip I learned from several legendary producers as they all say this: "Get your rough mix and balance right BEFORE you add any plugins."
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Typically rock, pop, blues and sometimes country music. I prefer to work with people who sing and play instruments.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Listening to the artist and achieving the sound they hear in their head.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a rough recordings or ideas into a pro sounding radio ready track.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I am highly adaptable due to the vastly varying desires and needs of each individual artist. So there is nothing typical as each process is different every time. The end goal is always the artists satisfaction.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio has absolutely everything I need to create whatever is necessary or desired. I have great monitoring, plenty of room for traditional rock band, isolated vocal booth, band room, control room and a plethora of top plug-ins (300+!) to achieve virtually anything the artist wants
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Alan Parsons is an amazing and legendary producer. I AM a proud graduate of his recording and music production course (ASSR). Also, I AM a lifetime member of Bobby Owsinski's "Hitmaker's Club". Bobby is also a legendary producer who's credits include Hendrix, Aerosmith, Iron Maiden etc.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I work with my clients to achieve the sounds they have been dreaming of. Radio ready mixes and masters are my specialty unless of course the client wants something else. Being a songwriter, musician and artist myself, I understand all the nuances and I work with my clients until they are satisfied.
