Eray produced and mixed my first album "karmakader". He is a trustworthy sound engineer, with sharp ears and very positive energy. He is a hard worker who surprises you with the accuracy of his musical approach. As an artist, I am able to say that he understands and puts his creativity to satisfy your demand and never let you down. Amazing guy :)
I've been producing and co-producing for more than 8 years now and I have outsourced around 20 tracks to Eray in a 2-year span for mix and mastering. Not once he failed to meet my expectations nor the artist's. He puts his creativity and know-how in every song and is always ready to go the extra mile as if it's his name on the cover.
Interview with Eray Polat
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Alternative, indie, electronic, pop and rock.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The difference mixing and mastering.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started my music career as an electric guitarist and played various artists in Europe, America and Asia. I was also very interested in music production and found a chance to work in a professional recoding studio in Istanbul. After that, i decide to study for masters degree in 'Sound Engineering and Design' at Istanbul Technical University. It's been 8 years that i'm mixing and mastering tracks.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can we fix 'it' at the mastering step? No, we cannot. So, please record and mix it correctly. Every step of the music production is the most important one.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will keep my interest on my clients until we finish the project.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I aim clear and focused mixes and masters.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: John Mayer. I love the production quality and arrangements.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Mostly, analog. I like the warmth and depth it adds.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Turning the knobs and give the music some more energy.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Try to keep music as simple as possible.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When an album mastering project comes, i listen to it 1-2 days to understand the music of the artist. And then, another 1-2 days to master it. If any revisions needed, i need 1 more day for it and after that i'm preparing all the master files for CD, digital and video releases. For single projects, i need 1 day to complete the master. If the artist is happy with the master, i'm sending the master files on the same day.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I do mixing and mastering for my clients. I also do editing.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I'm providing the energy for the song as much as it needs.
