I have recorded and mixed for a numbers of local artists in the chicago area, from genres of hip hop & r&b, jazz, psychedelic funk. Artist from Young Vet, Rico da G, Yung Dave, Natureboi Mello, Davante, Dopeboy Kenny etc. Just to name a few. All my clients i have recorded their songs and mix, then mastered them as well.
I am a SAE graduate from chicago with a passion for recording and mixing music. My palette ranges from the 70s to current music, I always listen to a wide range of music because of my dad influences with Dj'ing. This stuck with me and I decide to go to school to pursue it. while in school in 2016. and open up my studio and started working. I love the creative process of working from the ground up and transition to mixing, then Mastering. It is a fun process overall.

Where do I start? The environment and setup to record and master my craft in was superb. The sound box was outstanding and there were plenty of screens for Echo to relay information to me while in the booth. He was completely in tune with his setup and had a complete understanding on how to utilize his hardware and software to bring out the best in my vocals and ideas. I will be returning as I have many times before to continue to perfect my craft. I recommend Echo to anyone looking for the absolute best quality to mix and master their music.
Interview with Denille "EchoBeats" Hampton
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The song that i worked on recent was call free by Davante Jobe. His capture of the mood and vibe was already imprinted on the recording. I felt it just need to be tune a little and add some chorus for width then sound Eventide HD900 for harmonics and then delayed then to add playfulness, plus vibe to them. This made the hook sound massive and big, which gave emphasis on the hook and the song as a whole. I was the mixing and mastering engineer on the project.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style of mixing is old school with a modern day feel organically. I just look how to enhance the voice naturally with or without color meaning saturation. i believe that what made a lot of music great and timeless.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am working mixes with a local artist Dope Boy Kenny for his EP. I just finished mix another artist name Davante Jobe which he definitely love the mixed of the album
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To give them the best sonics sound possible by giving them dynamics and move that will give their song present.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: William Boswer
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I like both, one gives you the sonics, warmth and depth and the other gives you the flexibility and functionality.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: You always have a new found appreciate for your skills as a audio engineer, which is alway learning and evolving.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: People think that they can have a mixed done with the time of the session, when they recorded multiple songs in a 2 hr span, or most times people think it can be done in 20mins. Sometime i had a artist sit there and watch me mix and song, and he left and said call me when you think it ready, then he turn and said it sound good though. LOL
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are genre? Do you have a rough daft for reference? What are you look for the record to sound like i.e reference.? Do you have any notes for things you want done to the record creatively.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My setup is Hybrid. I run Pro tools Carbon system as my center piece. I like the ability to be able to use my db25 connection to patch to my outside gear: which is pair of SSL 6 channels, Retro Instruments DBL Wide, Wes Audio Dione, AMS Neve 1073lb, Trident 80B, CLA Bluey, BL Autuer, and Golden Age Comp2. My monitor is Dangerouse Source to stay in the analog domain while mixing. My speaker Sa25 with 24b 96k burr brown converter, 4 way speaker and my Kali Audio in8.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Live music, like bands, also producer like Hit boy, illmind, timberland, swiss beats, Dr. Dre, etc learning from these producer help shaped my sound as a engineer to be creative and expressive in my mixing.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of my clients come through searches or referrals. I record their songs and help them create hooks for their music, also i do some rearrangements. I also do vocal tuning and also production for them when ask to hear some instrumental to purchase. I mixed and mastered their music, when they feel like the song has been perfected.
