I’ve worked with Rett on a couple of albums over the past few years, and the process has always been great! Interview with Rett Smith

Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I generally begin with a convo with the artist about their sonic goals for the song and we go from there! It's also important for me to know how many tracks are in the session and how it was recorded.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! We live in a time where sonic possibilities are near endless!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are you wanting to accomplish sonically? Do you have any references that come to mind? Is the production finished?
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I own a private hybrid studio that I work in everyday, with gear from Chandler Limited, Rupert Neve, SSL and more!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Eric Valentine and Tchad Blake are two amazing engineers/ producers that I constantly am learning from. I'm also incredibly inspired by my friend and mentor Joe Nicolo.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am primarily looking to do remote mixing and mastering here on Soundbetter, but please don't hesitate to contact me with any other questions!
