My band and I returned to have Josh mix three more songs after a really good experience with him mixing a single of ours a few weeks ago. We'll be returning to have him do more. Josh clearly knows what he's doing. Highly professional both in his work and his communication.
Another great track with Josh, super professional and got my track to a really good place.
This was our first time getting anything mixed by josh, and we’re more than happy with the product. I play in an alt rock group and he did a really excellent job of delivering a professional, large sounding mix. We’re planning on returning to josh immediately to have him do more mixes.
Awesome to work with Josh again. He's extremely professional and really goes above and beyond to get the most out of the track. I couldn't be happier with the final version.
Josh does exceptional work. Amazing attention to detail and goes beyond what is asked to deliver amazing results. Highly recommended.
Great job Josh! Very professional and dedicated to bringing out my vision to the detail. Thank you!
Quick turnaround, super professional. Always a pleasure.
I really enjoyed working with Josh. I originally approached him for just mixing and mastering but he was also able to contribute with additional production which really brought the track to life. He was very professional, and turned the job around really quickly.
Josh was very professional throughout the entire process. It was an absolute pleasure working together and I am very happy with the end results. I look forward to collaborating with him again in the future!
Always very professional!
Amazing experience working with Josh ! A real professional with great understanding of music production but also vocal production. Look forward to working again together !
As a composer and arranger, I have been fortunate to have worked with Josh over past seven years, in different roles, including 'as live' and studio based engineering, mixing through to mastering.
Josh has an instinctive understanding of context, and the nuances of musical styling, and I have benefited greatly from his keen ear for mixing and knowledge of how a studio works.
I look forward to our next collaboration!
Josh is an outstanding engineer and creative individual. Always a pleasure to have him on our sessions and the quality of work is always to a high standard.
Interview with Josh Tyrrell
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The bulk of my work here is mixing and additional production. I will provide additional production and editing if I think it will enhance the mix. I also am providing mastering services for all of my mixes.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Timing, Groove, Ebb & Flow
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Telstar Studios is a fully equipped recording and mixing facility with the very best vintage and modern gear. The spacious control room is centred around a vintage 40 channel Trident console with stacks of interesting and rare outboard pieces. The live room is fully stocked with an eclectic instrument and amplifier collection ready to walk in and record. Founded in 2020 by engineers Josh Tyrrell and Conrad Hack who met in New York while interning at Electric Lady Studios. Their shared passion for curating spaces in which artists could reach their full potential lead to the inception of Telstar Studios.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: This is always changing but right now, Shawn Everett's mixes and unorthodox recording techniques are a big inspiration, particularly his work with The War On Drugs & Alabama Shakes. Tom Elmhirst's mixing on David Bowie's Blackstar and Becks Morning Phase is also a huge influence.
