Billboard charting producer with 20+ years experience in computer music production. I'd like to work with, and for, as many other music professionals as I can to create art that everyone involved feels proud creating. If it's heavy or dance worthy I can make it shine and see your vision through to a finished product.
Music Production, mixing, and mastering work is an iterative and collaborative process.
My job in that process is to get as close to 100% completion in any and all of those steps until it is 100%.
What helps in the process is knowing the direction you want the end goal of your music to sound like, be it a descriptor or a sound sample. With the experience I have, I can hear where a song needs to go right away.
There are a millions choices that can be made along the way, but only a handful are the "right" ones for your work. I see it as my mission to narrow down those choices until you have exactly what you hired me for.
Among my services:
If you have DI guitars I can re-amp, re-cab them.
If you have synths or drums MIDI, I can revoice them.
I can generate MIDI for existing parts that only have audio.
I can take a song that is fully recorded and engineered well, poorly, or mediocre and mix it into something that will maximize it's potential.
I can mix your songs
I can master your songs
I can write new parts
I can take the existing parts and make them sound more full and rich.
I am capable in a wide array of audio services that I would love the opportunity to provide for you.
Personally, I've created a lot of work as "Elay Arson", with 9 albums under that moniker alone.

Interview with Dan Dave Larson
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Diego Bogarin - Amazing Bassist
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm very proud of my personal music project Elay Arson. It took me from being shy about my music work into something I could be proud of consistently. I did the bulk of songwriting and production on that project.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Remixing and Remastering my own work, from a time before I had the computing power and gear to get crucial aspects of very dense mixes correct.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. Analog is gold. But Digital has caught up in a major way. It's a lot easier to recall mixing sessions with digital setups and analog modeled gear.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: It's not done until you say it's done.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: That I can pick it up or set it down as needed.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can you do this? YES.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That any of this is easy. All digital mixing and takes up a surprising amount of computing power as well.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is it that you want and how would you like me to get you there?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: You get what you pay for, but expensive doesn't always equal what you want or need.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Is power and internet supplied? I'm not dying on a desert island in front of a mixing console.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started making music in my garage when I was 15. Well over 20 years later, I haven't stopped.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Aggressive
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Any band that has yet to reach their full potential with an outside producer.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: 80% of mixing is just setting the faders and gain staging.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Heavy Electronic, Industrial, and Metal.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Knowing when something isn't working.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Decades of experience and knowledge.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I use Apollo plugins with Logic Pro, mixing in Neumann headphones, checking in multiple sets of monitors.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have an above average home studio. Enough to get the job done. Gear is an expensive habit.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: HEALTH, Nine Inch Nails, Mick Gordon, it's a long list to be honest.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing and mastering.
