Old School Flatwound P-Bass

There's nothing quite like the sound of a Fender Precision bass with flatwounds that's been tracked well, and I'd be honored to help your project along by writing and tracking an old school, melodic bass part.

I make sounds and write songs as Montana Book Club, but for years I've also played bass, keys, and guitar in all kinds of bands and recording projects. What I've found I love the most, though, is crafting interesting, thumpy, melodic bass lines, and once I hit on a P-bass with flatwounds on it, I never really looked back.

Based on your feedback and needs, I'll provide a bass part divided up into three tracks - direct with no eq / compression, direct with eq / compression, and amped. My signal chain includes a Fender American Precision bass with Thomastik flats on it, along with a Tube Tech mp1a preamp for the DI, and outboard eq's and compressors including an Electrodyne 511 EQ, a Great River Harrison 32EQ, a Pendulum OCL-500 opto compressor, and a Grove Hill Liverpool vari-mu compressor (which is particularly cool for capturing that McCartney vibe). Happy to provide one round of edits, and more than willing to work on additional edits as needed and discussed.
