Josh Powell on SoundBetter

I mix and engineer records. With 18 years of experience I apply my practiced, listening ear to not only making great records, but also hearing your vision for your music.

I founded and run The Map Room recording studio in Portland, Oregon. Our clients include Band of Horses, Aminé, Gossip, Other Lives, Grandaddy and so many more. I have extensive experience working on rock, singer-songwriter, pop, jazz, and soul music.

I work out of The Map Room recording studio for $350 per day including myself as engineer and full use of the studio and instruments. I mix songs for $150 per song. The studio is full of unique and classic recording equipment, much of which I built. One-of-a-kind microphones, a gorgeous-sounding and highly modified Speck M72 console, Studer A800 tape machine and an Ecoplate plate reverb round out the lovely sound palate.

    Josh is the complete package:
    1. An incredible engineer with really, really good taste.
    2. A professional, soft-spoken, selfless, and genuinely nice guy who works very hard to please his clients...a rare breed in the music business.

I look forward to seeing him every time we work together and I trust him 100% with my music. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
