I record my songs with top gear using an RME Fireface 802 interface, Neumann 171, and Neumann KM184 microphones, several high-quality instruments like Taylor guitars, a Kemper profiler stage amp, and high-quality plugins.

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Mareike, an amazing singer and songwriter.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started writing songs and playing in bands when I was 15. After school I decided to take my knowledge and skills to the next level and studied music at University focusing on vocals and guitar. I kept touring with my band and we opened for stars like Cyndi Lauper and Carlos Santana. I've been writing songs and singing professionally for more than 10 years now.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I worked as a band-leading singer for many years and at the peak of our journey we got to open for Cyndi Lauper and Carlos Santana. What an amazing memory!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right now I'm working on multiple productions and songs for TV/Film. They're in different genres, so it's super interesting to dive deep into the worlds of each production.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: A good combination of both. Never change a winning system but also be open to what's new ;).
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise I will keep you up to date with my progress through reliable communication, and give 100% to your project.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The feeling when a client received exactly what he or she has been looking for. Contributing to make songs come to life is amazing and the job never gets boring.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Could you sing on my song? I'd love to, if it works for my range and I can deliver what you're looking for.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I don't know.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Do you have any reference artists/songs for your song? What's your goal for the song? What's the due date?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Reference tracks of other artists or songs you like are a great help for the direction you're looking for.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Singer-songwriter pop crossing over genre boundaries. I try to keep it versatile ;).
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Ed Sheeran someday. He's an amazing songwriter painting the world with his words, and he needs nothing more than his voice and guitar.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't forget to save your session every few minutes! ;)
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on singer-songwriter, AC, and pop songs.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Emotional vocals, songwriting, production.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Creativity and emotion. My biggest goal is to deliver a great performance that captures the song's story.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First, I ask for a guide track and lyrics sheet to get the melody of the song and what it is about. Then I start recording a first draft, including BGVs and harmonies. I send this first draft with rough processing to my client and ask if they would like anything changed. After revising the track (if necessary) I send over the final files, fully tuned and edited, with the processing that is being asked for. In case of demos or full productions I regularly send updates to make sure I stay on track with what my clients wants.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work with Cubase Pro, an RME Fireface 802 interface, several high-end microphones like a Neumann 171 that fits my voice beautifully and KM184s for instrumental recordings.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My guitar, my computer with all my software instruments, my piano, a good mic and of course my coffee cup because nothing works without coffee.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: As an artists I'm very much inspired by Carole King and James Taylor, also Taylor Swift and country artists like Maddie and Tae. I love songs with strong melodies and heartfelt vocals.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I sing on my client's demos, which in includes lead vocals, harmonies and BGVs, depending on what the client asks for. I also produce demos and full productions of my client's songs.
