Endorse Carlos BricioCarlos has worked with us on a number of projects. We normally just call him an “Audio Wizard” because his results are close to magic. But he’s been everything from a sound engineer to a composer, a producer to valued collaborator. He’s primarily created audio for stage shows for us, but also worked on our podcast “A Good Service on All Other Lines”.
He is a master of his craft, always delivering high-quality work on time. But his best attribute is his ability to work in harmony with your vision; honouring your ideas while brining his own sensibilities, insight and creativity to the table.
Mostrar texto citadoI had the pleasure to work with Carlos on several projects where he has been invaluable to their success. He has a great attitude and vibe while remaining very efficient and professional. Very detail oriented, especially on drum recordings!!! Highly recommended, looking forward to working with him in the future.
Carlos has done several editing jobs for me, mainly around timing everything right to the grid. I have also been part of several projects that he has recorded drums for while at Abbey Road Institute, and can confidently say that I always feel like my work is in safe hands. What makes Carlos a fantastic engineer is his musicianship as well as his creative input and ideas. I'm rarely looking for someone to just do all the technical work; Carlos always elevates the projects he works on by working on them in the most musical way. He knows what sounds best without me providing references! :)
Carlos produced our EP "Fuera de Lugar" at the Abbey Road Academy studio. He not only did an amazing job but he also got very involved and helped with some unsolved details of our music. The project had a solidary goal, to be the voice of people with intellectual disabilities that needs someone to speak out for them. Thank you Carlos!!!!!!!!!
The sound of my tracks mixed by Bricio are timeless, clear, and fluid. He helps me build the worlds for my songs just as I imagine them, is generous with his time, thorough, and quick with any revisions. It was a gift co-producing with him also. We set clear dates to review our progress and Bricio always respects my creative process. He is a talented drummer, his studio came in handy when I needed bass and drums recorded remotely. Most of all he is kind, caring, and a great listener. I will trust my music time and time again with Bricio, he has a wealth of knowledge and limitless enthusiasm
I worked with Carlos on many occasions and used his services to the full spectrum of music production, from co-writing, to live drums sessions, to mixing and mastering. He's a joy to work with and an extremely talented engineer. As a producer he's always strived to extract the best out of performances and as a mixing/mastering engineer, he's got outstanding knowledge and experience, and his attention to detail is second to none. I highly reccomend Carlos for anything audio related.
Having worked with Carlos in a few projects now I can only testify on how good it is to work with him.
Carlos is a great producer that helped shaping my demos and making then complete songs at professional level.
As an engineer Carlos is a master in capturing the instruments int he best possible way, and the final mix.... the final mix Carlos delivered to me just blown me away... so many details, stereo field being used so beautifully...
Many thanks for taking my songs to a new level Carlos!
Looking forward to work with you again!Gran profesional del sonido y de toda la gestión alrededor de una grabación.
No sólo tiene gran experiencia en las mezclas y comprensión de un proyecto si no que además aporta un clima agradable y profesional para que todo vaya fluido.
Deseando repetir!I've worked with Carlos on five songs now. He's an excellent drummer but above all, a true professional with fantastic communication. Carlos' experience in audio engineering means that his tracks are also recorded and delivered perfectly in a timely organised fashion.
I'd happily recommend Carlos' services to anyone who needs well-played, well-recorded drum tracks on their songs.
I've had the opportunity to work with Carlos in several projects and it's always fantastic. He make an exceptional work that elevates every projects to another level. In fact, we received several awards for a podcast and I'm 100% sure that half of that is due to his amazing sound design and productions. I can not recommend enough his services. I´m sure I will work with him again in the future.
I had the pleasure of having Carlos track live drums on a song. I highly recommend him for his experience and versatility. His drumming serves the song, while also contributing his flavour to the track. His knowledge of recording will also guarantee a great result sonically.
Interview with Carlos Bricio
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: One common misconception is that audio production is solely about technical proficiency and equipment. While these are undoubtedly important aspects, successful audio production also requires a deep understanding of musicality, storytelling, and the ability to connect with the audience on an emotional level.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I would advise customers to prioritize finding a provider who not only possesses the necessary technical skills but also demonstrates a genuine passion for their craft and a dedication to understanding and realizing the client's vision. Additionally, seeking out testimonials and examples of past work can provide valuable insight into the provider's capabilities and suitability for the project.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill lies in my ability to forge meaningful connections with my clients and translate their ideas into compelling audio experiences. Whether it's capturing the essence of a musical composition or enhancing the storytelling of a podcast, I excel in bringing the client's vision to life.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a unique blend of technical expertise and creative insight to every song I work on. My background as a scientist and musician allows me to approach each project with a meticulous attention to detail while infusing it with artistic innovation and emotion. I always stay true to the original vision of the song and try to elevate it to a new listening experience that tells a story to the audience.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: The first thing I like to do is to have conversation with my clients to learn what they want to achieve with their project. See if they have any references or demos they want to share, bring any recommendations or thoughts to the table and talk about deadlines and budget. My typical work process begins with a detailed consultation with the client to understand their vision and project requirements. From there, I provide a customized proposal outlining the scope of work and timelines. Throughout the project, I maintain open communication with the client, providing updates and incorporating feedback to ensure the final product exceeds expectations.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I specialize in providing audio production services tailored to the needs of my clients. This includes mixing, mastering, composition, sound engineering, and content creation for various mediums such as music, podcasts, and stage shows.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I recorded and produced the stories and songs podcast A Good Service On all Other Lines. It is a combination of storytelling with folk music where I was involved in the recording of both music and narration as well as sound designing the episode for a more immersive experience.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm currently producing the next EP for the Spanish band SudhaChandran, a reggae-rock band with committed and critical lyrics that I had the luck to play and work in the past.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both if I can! Hybrid is just more fun! Otherwise digital just makes it easier to work anywhere achieving a professional sound taking advantage of modern technology.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I work closely with the artist and get involved in their projects. That way I can understand what they want to achieve, help them to get there easier and share their passion during the whole process.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Working with people and helping them to create something to connect with others.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What's their vision? what do they want to achieve? what's their budget? do you have a reference?
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I think I would take an H4n Pro, a Taylor guitar, an SM57, solar powered batteries and a cajon. Ready to record anywhere!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I grew up surrounded by the music of The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Cream or Nina Simone. The themes of films like Star Wars or Back to the Future were my everyday soundtrack. I could hear them in my head all the time! I started playing the drums in bands when I was in school and I continued throughout University. Ever since I recorded in a studio for the first time I got myself captivated by this process. My passion for music drove me to study Music Production at Abbey Road Institute where I also worked as Senior Technician and lecturer, helping me to take my music career one step further.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Being a musician myself and having experience in the studio from the other side of the glass makes me aware of the challenges that the artists encounter when they are recording. That’s why I focus on creating the right environment, so they can concentrate on the creative part while I capture that energy whenever it happens.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always ride the fader of your vocal track to help them sit right on your mix.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I have experience working across a diverse range of musical genres, including but not limited to pop, rock, electronic, jazz, and classical. My versatility allows me to adapt to the unique demands of each genre and deliver exceptional results.

A: My studio's core is an UAD Apollo FireWire interface with a Thunderbolt 3 option card and a M1 Mac Mini. I have a wide collection of dynamic, condenser and ribbon microphones including, modelling mics and custom made U87 clone that allows me to get a wide range of tones on my recordings. I have everything that I need to record and produce music including drums, guitars, bass, percussion and keyboards on top of a wide variety of virtual instruments and sound libraries to add textures and soundscapes..
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
