Il Sottoscala • Music Services
Music for films & productions
Get the perfect music for your film or a stunning arrangement for your song! "Il Sottoscala • Music Services" is a network of professionals with skills from composition to sound engineering. Ask us for a service and you'll be delivered a ready-to-use project!
We are professionals with years of education and experience in the music business. Either if you're looking for an epic orchestral soundtrack or for an electronic production, we know how to help you stand out!
Here's how we work: after studying the project and your references, Marco (composer) and Mario (sound engineer) make their choice about the best gear and genre direction for the music. Then, Marco composes a draft to send to the customer and if he's satisfied with the sound of the sample, Marco takes the composition process to the end and Mario makes his magic mixing/mastering process.
The music is now ready to be delivered to you.
We can't wait to work on your project, feel free to contact us for quotations and any kind of info!
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Interview with Il Sottoscala • Music Services
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: We're working on some backing tracks produced by ourselves.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Our composer, Marco, is also a guitarist and has been on SoundBetter from years. Look for Marco Ielpo.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Hybrid. Digital reached high quality levels, so we think that a professional can take the best from both.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To satisfy their expectations.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: All the process from the beginning of a composition to the finish of the mastering is magic!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How many time does the project need to be completed? The answer is based on the complexity of the project.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Too many "producers" make music for very low prices, but without professional knowledge.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Musical references and as much informations as possible about the project!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look for professionals who care about you and your project and who take some time to study before starting to work. Don't look only for the best price.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Computer, headphones, microphone, jack, audio interface. We can make great productions also with this essential gear!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Over 15 years. That's good, isn't it?
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Various! There's not a better way to describe it!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Melody is the key. You can either make difficult music or simple music, but if you start from a good melody you're able to catch the listener's attention.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Orchestral or cinematic soundtracks.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Marco (composer): musical knowledge Mario (sound engineer): great mixing skills!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Emotions, quality, freshness.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Before starting the project we ask the customer for references and as many informations as possible about his intentions, so we decide what musical direction to give to the project. Then Marco, our composer, makes a draft to send to the customer and if he likes the sound Marco finishes the composition process and Mario, the sound engineer, makes is magic!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: We currently have 2 different setups: one for the composition process, one for the mixing/mastering process. The composition setup is made up by an essential gear but a huge professional variety of sound libraries. The mixing/mastering setup really makes the difference and guarantees super high quality productions!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: We have a ton! We love soundtrack compositions from Zimmer, Morricone, Williams and music productions from Steven Wilson, Billie Eilish and so many others!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: We usually make soundtracks for short films or music productions for musicians.
