Internationally acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, composer, engineer, and producer with documented innovative contributions from the European 80s DIY New Wave/Punk/Progressive music and art community, to the 90s New York City Downtown, Avantgarde, and Contemporary Jazz scene, and in the '00s, the new NYC electronica scene.

A four-decade innovative contributor to the international creative music scene with original work labeled 'among the most riveting explorations of the microtonal world ever recorded (Signal To Noise), 'genuinely innovative, may be considered groundbreaking (Jazz Review), and taking you on a journey to a place where everything is possible (All About Jazz). Sten Hostfalt has recorded, collaborated, or appeared in concerts with mentors pioneering icons of American Music Giuffre and Paul Bley. Masters of Jazz Gary Burton, Peter Erskine, Clare Fischer, Bobby Shew, Rob McConnell, and Deborah Brown. Contemporary greats Guillermo Klein, Matthew Garrison, Mark Turner, Aaron Goldberg, Chris Cheek, Melvin Butler, Jeff Ballard, Seamus Blake, Ingrid Jensen, Noah Preminger, Nir Felder, Janek Gwizdala, and Ron McLure. Shared live events include Tower Of Power, Ray Brown, James Moody, The Woody Herman Big Band, Niels Henning Orsted Pedersen, Ray Anderson, Bob Stewart, MOBY, Keith Murray (DEF Squad), Machinedrum, and Theophilus London. Holding academic degrees with honors from Columbia University (Ed.M), New England Conservatory (M.M.), and Berklee College of Music (B.M.), he has taught and/or lectured at Columbia University's Teachers College, The Royal College of Music in Stockholm, The Creative Workshop at Berklee College of Music, and The New World School of The Arts, Miami FL.
