Born and raised in Geneva, Axel moved to Zürich, Vienna, London, Berlin. Where he stayed some time. He travels around Europe mixing FOH and Monitors and worked with over 450 artists. He is a visiting Lecturer in Live Audio at the SAE geneva for both, the bachelor and the diploma course.

Axel worked as a FOH or Monitor live mixer with Brian May (Queen), Ray Perez, the New York Ska Jazz Orchestra, The bad Plus, Yannick Noah, Jamaram, Michelle Gurevitch and many more. He also worked as head of sound for the musical We Will Rock You and worked at various famous festivals like the Montreux-Jazz festival and the Hurricane festival. He had a recording studio in Berlin between 2010 and 2014 at the Funkhaus Berlin and could be seen mixing at the famous Quasimodo club when he had some time off.

Axel has become known for clear, tight and highly polished live mixing.

  1. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  2. A: While mixing FOH, keep your eyes on the stage and your fingers on the faders (unless you need to sneeeze!)

  3. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  4. A: Mixing Live for the past 25 years.

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: I don't work in the studio much anymore. But I can tell that Live I am usually working with a DiGiCo desk, some Distressors, a M7, some TC Electronic gear like FireworX, M3000, a finalizer..

  7. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  8. A: I am inspired by Pab, Daniel Gonzales, Daniel Green, Big Mick ...

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: I usually work live at FOH as main mixer or head of sound.
